I only recently discovered this artist and was so enamored of his work, that I needed to know more about him. This book is like an encyclopedia of his life and the time he lived in; full of pertinent information. What I liked best about the essays is the fact that they set him quite firmly in his time and gave historical and emotional context to his work. I am glad I read it.
