A random thrift find which led to an interesting, amusing, and exasperating look at the beliefs of the Nation of Islam (which while believed exactly by comparatively few today had a resonant impact on the thought of black America). It is written by the first white convert, a former religious sister who married into the Nation. A (typo ridden) mix of critical theory, pop ecology, and the strange excuse for “Islam” Elijah Muhammad preached, it contains gems like

“A young black woman student asked me one day after class: "Do you believe the Yakub story about white people?" I answered in the way I answered myself, it made sense to me. But I couldn't provide myself or her with proof of Yakub from anthropological, archae-ological, nor historical literature, except as it appeared between the lines, in the unspoken yet worded narrative of the human species evo-lution. What I realized in my first acquaintance with the teachings of Elijah Muhammad was that they provided a link to a mysterious void and abyss in the knowledge of myself and the ancient world beyond my grasp. The more I reflected on his account of the making of the white man, the more it seemed accurate.”

There you have it folks, need evidence for the existence of Yakub? Just look around you.
