Buffet is a French artist who first saw Hawaii in 1962 and became very popular there. He describes his style as somewhere between primitive/naive and impressionistic (I go with primitive). This book is full of paintings of Hawaiian locales and people, each accompanied by informative descriptions of how, where, and when it was done. It was very nice to read this book after visiting last summer.
