How to Prosper During the Coming Bad Years in the 21st Century is a must-have survival and moneymaking guide for anyone who wants to profit from the rough economic seas that are upon us—and come through with their share of treasure.
Bad years are coming for the unaware… but when you know what’s really happening behind the scenes, you can make them the best years of your financial life.
The devaluation of the American dollar, with the subsequent inflation, is eerily similar to the chaotic markets of the 1970s. The factors that created the stagflation and the gold and silver bull markets of the late 70s and early 80s are back. As Yogi Berra said, “It’s déjà vu all over again.” Only this time, they’re even more exaggerated—offering once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for middle-class Americans, if they look beyond the Wall Street stock-market propaganda. This book can help you panic-proof your life and your finances, and reap huge profits with relatively small investments in gold, silver, certain ETFs, mutual funds, and mining stocks.
It is curious how good sound advice is always relevant. I read this probably 10-12 years ago. Mr. Ruff presents some of the most useful information I've had in my adult life. He helped me be wise with good basic financial common sense. He based his advice on virtues and being aware of what is happening in your world.
So, for any of those too young to remember 1978 when the first book appeared, I recommend this update he did in 2008.
Even in today's absolutely upside-down world, sound principles are still true.
This book was interesting, although long-winded. I feel like the author used too many words to get his point across and repeated himself many times. His primary purpose is to point out the reasons for and the inevitability of an upcoming financial upheaval. He makes very good arguments that we are headed for a period of high inflation and possibly several other things such as high interest rates and the failure of the dollar. He feels very strongly that the best defense against becoming a victim of a bad economy is to store enough food for at least six months. He also recommends holding precious metals both at home as "insurance" and in mining stocks. Additionally, he gives advice on what to do with your home during periods of extreme inflation. Personally, I feel that some of his advice is risky and should be carefully considered before action, but it is probably worth considering--at least to some degree.
This book is a good introduction to the inflationary crisis that we are about to experience in America. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to read the book. Otherwise you'll probably be able to find most, if not all of this information in various places online.
I would have rated it higher, had it not mostly been review for me.
Pretty sound advice from Howard Ruff. Basically, he advocates a 6-month emergency food supply and the purchase of gold and silver, with more emphasis on silver. He also has real estate advice for certain situations.
There is some good information in here but there are many other much better books on the subject that aren't full of religious preaching and aren't frankly insulting to unmarried professional women.
Read it a while ago, good financial information. Food storage reminders are good for this time (and basics for natural disasters people.) Need to re-read as his projections prove out.
