According to Peador and Gerald O'Rafferty 1953 "No book has yet been written dealing exclusively with the history of Irish Dancing". This book, first published in 1987, was the first attempt to fill that niche. It consists of a series of essays dealing the origins of Irish history of the first Ceili's held in London 1897: account of Kerry Dance account of Cork Dance influence of the Cork Pipers origins of the origins of solo set and various essays on Irish dancing in North America, England, Australia and New Zealand.
