These short stories were a delight to read. They were funny and sad all at the same time. The writing styles of the varied authors were so uniquely different it made the reader wonder what you will be reading next.

My favorite story was That's the Way Love Goes. This story was my favorite because it had a confident wife who knew her position. And, a husband who did not know his place.

Qutoe: I titled my head to the side and responded with, "When are you leaving?"

My second favorite story was a Her Sister's Boyfriend. This is my second favorite story because a lot people do not know what they have until its lose. And, are equally unaware they have lose anything.

Quote: Trent never cared about his family business. He just showed up for the photo ops and cashed his checks. But now that his family's legacy was at stake, he had to do something.

My least favorite story is The Plot to Take Over Washington. It is my least favorite because the story line sounded similar to a bad sitcom on television. For a promotion on the job, someone is willing to date a co-worker's roommate and steal information from her laptop. It is discovered and everyone confronts him in a public place.

Quote:

To his surprise, it wasn't locked and on the screen was Tracee's presentation. He threw his head back and cheered silently.

The shock in his eyes was matched by the delight in mine.

I absolutely love this collection of short stories! As I moved through perplexity in 'That's the Way Love Goes' by Adrienne Thompson to the feelings of heroic love in 'Never Too Late' by Cheryl Cloud Robbins, I was fully engaged as I was shocked by betrayal in 'Shame' by Penelope Christian but moved by the statement of "Break up with your ex-self" then in emotional tears in 'Losing Lily' by Jeida K. Storey. And let's not forget me rooting hard for Tiffany in 'Online Secrets' by Venita Alderman Sadler. I learned to never give up my dreams to support a man because in 20 to 30 years, I would regret that sacrifice. I also learned that sex confirms that you don't need to be together (lol) and that you should make moves in quiet because someone is always trying to steal your talent. The revelation of family secrets just confirmed how much people are still just people outside of their familial tie and that blood isn't always thicker than water. And I'm so glad that my stance against male/female "friendship" still remains as a reminder that some people have a different definition of what friends are. This collection of short stories took me on a wild and crazy ride but I enjoyed every minute of it. Congrats to all the authors for sharing their stories!

When I read a book I like to imagine the characters and visualize the scenes. THIS book made it so easy to do. These stories are life in action. The authors took their time to paint a picture for the readers so clear it was like watching it play out in my head. I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down! While reading I felt the happiness, sadness and devastation of the characters. I read the last book they published and I can say as much as I enjoyed The Dating Game; The Ex Chronicles is on a whole different level and I will patiently await the next offering from Brown Girls Books!!

I loved every second...

Each story was compelling, gripping. I enjoyed the several takes on exes ... I thought only of ex-lovers, but there were broken family and friend relationships as well. I totally got drawn in by every tale. Master strokes!

A group of stories about an ex, or soon to be ex. Most people think of an Ex boyfriend or husband when looking at the title of this book, but that's not all these stories were about. Some of them was about a soon to be ex friend or even parent. I liked most of the stories, but my favorites were Pursure, conquer, destroy, Too old to marry, That's the way love goes, fool me once, and online secrets. It would be nice if some of these and some others could be turned into full length stories.

Among a collection of almost two dozen break-up songs there were a few stories I found quite entertaining. 'Only BeWeave' weaved in and out, looping past and present events to match the title and ending. Nice job. 'Intuition' was another interesting break-up tale, written in high entertainment fashion. 'The Circle of Life' was truly my favorite. I really enjoyed the suspense leading up to how Ms. Goody Two Shoes---Jill knew the dearly departed…and just loved that ending.

Good stories with lots of variety

Loved this collection of stories! I was pleasantly surprised by the skill of the writers showcased here. I enjoyed most every story and found myself crying and cheering with a couple of them. There are definitely a few I'd like to see continue as a full novel or continuation. All in all, I've found a few new authors to check out! Win!!

The ExChronicles. Its so much more than a regular novel. the stories were all by different authors but the similarities and main objective of Love was so phoenomenal. I truly loved this book and hated for it to end. Thumbs up to Lakesa Cox I truly look forward to reading more of your work.

Interesting and engaging stories about love

This is the question that came to mind when I read the story of "Losing Lily" by Jeida Storey. Is it your own "fault" if you can't find love in your life? Well, "yes" and "no". No, because some of us just haven't met or had the opportunity to meet that special person we desire to spend the rest of our lives with.

However, sometimes out of fear and the pain from our past we can build walls that no one can penetrate, not even God Himself. Yet, we go through life being absolutely miserable, punishing ourselves and anyone who tries to get too close. I personally made the decision that I wasn't going to allow one bad relationship to detour me from getting into another. As the Lord told Elijah, "There are 7,000 who haven't bowed their knee to Baal nor kissed him." There's a lid for every pot, there's someone for everyone but we must seek to be whole (healed) so we can recognize him or her when God reveals them.

Great story Jeida-makes you think!

I was not expecting to enjoy these shorts as much as I did. I’m not finished reading just yet, but I can already say that this collection deserves five stars and the authors should be very proud of themselves. My favorite so far is Tangled Webs by Elle Jaye and I really hope it gets turned into a full novel.
