The bitter feud between the wealthy, arrogant Montgomerys and the proud, hardworking Capshaws had brought more than enough sorrow to two troubled families. And, like the quarrel that sparked the most immortal of all tales of star-crossed love, the cruelest fate was reserved for a boy and girl too young to understand why theirs was a forbidden passion ....
Molly Capshaw swore that her love for Jordan Montgomery had died along with their unborn child, and Jordan believed to his soul that everything that made life worth living had tome to an end that fatal day. And yet a chance meeting ten years later made it painfully clear that whatever they told themselves, their story was far from over ... .
WOW, "A Love like Romeo and Juliet" was one hell of a emotional roller coaster and quite a exciting trainwreck!I enjoyed every page of it! There are some details i could have been without, but its still pretty much good story. A old family feud between the rich Montomerys and the middle-class Capshaw, so when the soulmates Jordan Montgomery and Molly Capshaw fall irrevocably in love with each other, all hell breaks lose which results in a tragedy that will scar both Jordan and Molly for a decade to come.
I liked how the author developed each character based on their upbringing and past.Especially Jordan who grew up rich, but in a very toxic and dysfunctional family. He is quite the romantic without knowing much about feelings himself.Even meeting Molly,he didn`t fully comprehend what he felt for her, feeling that calling it "love" was too petty and shallow for the intense emotions she evoked in him.He was all along much fearless when it came to facing her and his family about their relationship.I love how even after their separation how he quickly realized he wasn´t over her,and that he wanted a second-chance together with her.Something about this story line also reminds me of Judith McNaughts`s Paradise. Yeah, this certainly delivers the angsty star-crossed lovers trope to a whole another level!
Can't wait to read this because what could possibly go wrong?
REVIEW: Despite a candidate for worst title ever and the heavy handed names Capshaw/Capulet, Montgomery/Montescue and the eye-rolling Vernonia/Verona this was a heart thudding, well done, angsty Romeo and Juliet story. Instead of ending in death though, the romance deals with the fallout if Romeo and Juliet had lived. There were times when I couldn’t wait to turn the page to find out if another family member croaked or betrayed someone or cast another aside. The tension and angst was real and well done and very believable.
Bishop tears the story apart and places the onus and bitterness on the feud between the two families. The feud is a generational thing now and frankly has no basis in reality, but family members on both sides cling to it. The hero and heroine are young and in love and easily manipulated which leads to all sorts of drama and trouble. One of the few romances I’ve read where the hero is the driving force on laying his love on the line and saying to hell with family and consequences.
Death and both physical and emotional destruction happen as well as a ten year separation, I don’t want to get into too many spoilers as it’s an exciting roller coaster ride, and I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and wondered how in the heck Bishop was going to squeeze a HEA into this story. Not very many likable characters in the book, the family members on both sides are perfectly horrible and only a few get their just desserts. Couldn’t put it down.
This is one of the best love stories I have ever read :) It glued me to the story from first to last;the book drew the feelings of the main two character so well - I was overwhelmed by it!! There's romance, break up, again romance, bed scenes, fight between two rival families-I mean there's everything a love story needs . The story of the books really does judgement to the name of the book !! So any1 who loves stories with pure love is gonna love this book I can guarantee :)
