My very first thought while reading the book was that cinnamon, saffron and also black peppercorn got to be my favourite spices in this story and I felt that their magical powers are very well suited to their original tastes .
Story is very engaging and it's main character Tilo is super interesting but I don't know why I'm not satisfied much with the ending , may be I secretly want Tilo to have those powers anyway .

A beautifully written tantalizing story about spices mixed with the mystical.
