About the author

Gail Heath wears many hats. Author/Illustrator of children's books, INSIDE ME, SOMETIMES and NO TIME FOR FISHING, Heath, a Michigan public school teacher for many years, is at home in the classroom as well as presenting before community groups. She has had articles, poems, and stories published in national and regional magazines as well as newspapers. Heath was a recipient of the Santa Barbara Writer's Conference Award and a featured speaker at the 2004 Sundance Children's Festival. Gail Heath, currently a trainer for Equity & Diversity and a Language Arts teacher for Clark County Schools, Las Vegas, Nevada, is also publisher of CONDOR PUBLISHING, INC., a Michigan company that publishes family appropriate westerns and children's books.

I felt the Empathy! Outstanding Work!!!

I once came across Gail Heath’s book Inside Me, Sometimes, and I truly enjoyed it. Since then I’ve been trying to follow her other books. Her words are light and friendly. The books are educational and realistic. In this one I felt empathy the story taught. Poor Fred had to be thrown out… I really felt bad for poor Fred…but, no matter what, the little boy loveed him and went out to the doghouse to be with his pet---fleas and all.
This book is a must read for everyone, although more captivating for children, but children wouldn’t know unless we adults read it first. “Gail Heath” is very intelligent and knows how to represent the words in the story with the background pictures and concept. I will buy more of her books and definitely will recommend them to my friends and family.

Cute book

This book tells the story of how Fred the dog gets fleas. Mom and dad put the dog outside in the dog house. Then the cat gets fleas too.
This book can be used by teachers and parents for open discussion about animal care. Kids should learn the importance of taking care of their pets. This book leaves the ending open for kids to create the ending with drawings and such.
When I asked my 6 year old what she would do for the animals in this story she said she would give them a bath with flea shampoo. She also said she would give the animals the medicine we give our dog. She also remembered seeing flea collars at the store. She enjoyed making up her own ending to this story.

Little boy's dog, Fred, gets fleas - instead of taking care of the dog, they shove him outside! I love animals and this just put me in a bad mood - they should have taken care of the dog!
