Excellent children's book! I found the original 1949 version in a box of books a school was giving away. Happy 70th!

Okay, not 5-star worthy, I know, but... I'm guessing I was about 4 when I checked this book out from out little county library over and over and over and over. I was wishing I had a copy for myself, and lo and behold, my husband presented me with not just one copy for Christmas, but FIVE copies, all different bindings. Kinda sweet, huh?

This is a childhood favorite, one I remember getting more than once from our little library in the neighboring town. Something about the red and yellow illustrations takes me instantly back in time. Love.
