Ron Rapoport was a sports columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times for more than twenty years and also wrote for the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Daily News, and the Associated Press. He served as the sports commentator for NPR's Weekend Edition for two decades and has written a number of books about sports and entertainment.
Stan Love had a brief and nondescript NBA career from 1971 till 1975. This book is a diary of his second and last season with the Lakers (74/75). He describes the day to day life of a professional basketball journeyman who fights every day to play a few minutes and, with a bit of luck, make a breakthrough that will allow him to play another year. It is a light but interesting read, but in order to enjoy it properly you need to be very familiar with the NBA in the mid 70s and the players of the Lakers roster.
