From my own personal library: This book was given to us probably right before we had kids or in the midst of raising our two boys. I took lots of notes, so it had a positive impact on me not that I carried out what I wanted to or did it perfectly by any stretch of the imagination. An overall theme that was very hard for me early on was to choose to spend time with the kids and family. I was very busy working and/or volunteering time at the church and that always took me away from my family. One note talks about allowing the child to help but be patient with them. Another note talks about encouraging questions. Finally, a note that was hard to implement was this formula: praise + encouragement = motivation. There was also a good chapter on the difference between discipline and training. This book I am sure would still resonate with any parent in today's world. In my opinion those principles carry forward in each generation.
