In Rogue Night , Cole never meant to end up in The Outskirts, but when his friends were kidnapped, he had to try and save them. Now he’s trapped in a world that lies between wakefulness and dreaming. Will he find them before it’s too late?

Cole ventures to a new kingdom as he continues his search for his friends—and also pursues his quest to mend what has gone awry with the magic in The Outskirts in Crystal Keepers . Can he overcome the challenges ahead, or will he be stranded forever in a world between reality and imagination?

I really enjoyed this series! Made for middle-school boys, I appreciated the themes related to that age group, friendship, growing up. there was good age-appropriate romance. I loved how each kingdom was unique and how prior characters were woven throughout, it was nice to see other friends. I also really liked how there was action and close calls, but also a lot of people willing to help and who, upon learning new information, changed their minds.
reading as an adult it was enjoyable
- the pacing of the book, continuous action but within realistic timeframes, accounted for needing rest, food, different clothes, the logistics felt realistic
- I loved how they discussed plans and didn’t just run into every situation heedless.
- I loved the way the conflicting priorities between personal goals and greater good showed up in different ways

These books are great. Full of conflict, character growth, imagination, and suspense all good elements to make a great story for young readers.I read the first to chapters of Five kingdoms Sky Raiders and I was fully seduced by its plot. I got the first two on my eleventh and was intrigued to find it was also by the author of FableHaven.Brandon Mull dose an amazing job at explaining the setting and being detailed. If any young reader is looking for a great series I highly recomend Five Kingdoms siries.
