The characters' personalities made sense when viewed in the context of their pasts. Both Maha and Humair behaved in ways that most people would, given their experiences. I liked the ending, but I think it would have been better if Maha had given herself more time at the end, or perhaps removed that jewelry much earlier. She shouldn't have gone after Ubaid like that. I don't agree with the idea that love isn't necessary in marriage, but overall, it was a good read. I also appreciated how the writer delved deeply into the psychology of both characters. However, I find it hard to believe that someone like Humair could change so quickly—overnight—but the writer still managed to make the change in him feel justified.

such a beautiful novel, there are some loopholes also there, but still the ending was satisfactory. Good decision taken by Maha. overall its a good novel.
I don't recall shelving this book. I started reading it today, and had a nagging feeling that I MAY have read it earlier but nothing screamed at me to stop. Let's just say that it read like a fresh story to my increasingly old and recently forgetful brain.
