After flying home from Beaumont Park for their parents’ wedding, Kate McGregor and Holly Chapman are faced with Mrs. Dean’s grandiose plans to turn Timber Ridge into a millionaire’s playground and theme park. The girls can deal with an elite horse camp . . . but carnival rides and cotton candy stands on top of their beloved hunt course?

No way.

It’ll drive the horses nuts, never mind destroy a bunch of endangered wildlife. And so, while coping with privileged camp kids who don’t even know how to bridle their ponies and Angela’s reluctance to help out, Holly and Kate have to find a way to block Mrs. Dean.

She will ruin Timber Ridge Mountain if they don’t.

On top of all this, Angela has a new boyfriend and Kate is convinced she’s seen him before.

But where?

While I really enjoyed this installment in the series, I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the previous one. The girls are busy running a horse camp while their recently married parents are away on their honeymoon. Mrs Dean is trying to turn Timber Ridge into a theme park and the girls aren't happy.

The pony riding and care is always fun in these books. It makes me want to go ride my own horse. The new characters that were introduced for the camp were fun and came with their own set of problems. One thing I didn't like was how things happened with Brad and Kate. I guess I would have liked for them to at least talk. I know they're young, but a little communication would have been nice.

The story ended with plenty of questions and I'm already ready for a sequel.

Proving that leaving Timber Ridge diminished this series slightly we're back and just as good as always. Angela is back in full physcopathic mode and all is well with the world. It opens with Mrs. Dean planning a horse camp for the ultra rich. She's also hell bent on destroying the natural beauty of the area by creating an ugly amusement park on the mountain. Holly and Kate's parents finally marry, Angela destroys Liz's dress who does that? They head off on their honeymoon and Mrs. Dean creates chaos with her horse camp that has no real direction or leadership leaving Holly and Kate to do most of the work. Marcia, the Cinderella stepsister of Angela returns along with a shy young girl Charlotte who Kate takes on to try and boost her very low self esteem. In sad news Sue and Brad move to Colorado. Brad is happy but blows Kate off which is do out of character for the nice guy he was always portrayed as that storyline left a bitter taste for me. At least man up enough to say goodbye to her. But Sue does say her goodbyes to the girls. Poor Kate feeling so alone like there's something wrong with her when it comes to guys when really she just keeps ending up with the wrong ones. There is a hint of possible romance for Kate later on though. The book ends with Mrs. Dean's plans being upended by an unexpected discovery on the new alpine slide she was having built and I'm excited to see where we go from here.

This series gets better with every book. I love how Maggie Dana lets these girls mature and evolve. In the 11th book in the series they are no longer the little girls they were in book 1. They have changed, gotten smarter, grown up, all right in front of my eyes. There's still plenty of drama (with horses and other girls), but the basics remain unchanged and true: friendship, loyalty and a love for horses.

I honestly can't get enough of this series. I hope there are many many many more to come.
