A wonderful collection and examination of Jewish literature on catastrophe. I was privileged to take a seminar with Professor Roskies centered around this book. I find myself pulling it out on Tisha B'Av.

I don’t know if it is disrespectful to give this heart wrenching first account five stars. It is a haunting plead to the future free world to sample the worst of humanity in juxtaposition with humanity’s most sacred and most precious. I would give 6 million stars if I could.

Powerful and unflinching, this indictment and eyewitness should be required reading for all who wonder if the Holocaust really happened or was really 'that bad'. It was.
