"Dying to Get Married" - (Episode 7 in the Sweet Southern Sleuths Short Stories): A Cozy Mysteries Women Sleuths Series
The Thanksgiving holiday is over and Loretta Sweet, vowing to work off some post-holiday pounds, heads out for an evening stroll along with her twin sister, Lacy, and the neighbor’s dog, Barkley.
Barkley breaks loose from his leash and races across Mossy Manor Bed and Breakfast property. When the girls finally catch up with him, they find him in an empty building, standing guard over a woman's body.
Lacy and Loretta quickly discover that the poor victim had more enemies than friends, including Savannah Dogwood, their neighbor.
The girls start digging around and the list of suspects quickly grows with Savannah as the prime suspect.
Can Loretta and Lacy clear Savannah's name, or is she, as all the evidence seems to indicate, capable of murder?
I just finished reading book 7 or episode 7 as a quality, and I loved it. The reason why I Hope Callaghan's books are because their shorts and at the same time packs a lot of information in the few pages that are in the short story. I love reading them and reading about the twin sisters and how they are completely different. I have a set of twin boys fraternal but they remind me of these two because one is just speaks her mind and is out there, while the other one is shy and kind of quiet. But they balance each other out and this is just an awesome series I love reading it and I hope the author will continue to write more. It's a great short story and keep up the good work.
I continue to enjoy reading the series. The sisters are out walking Barkley when the dog breaks loose and runs across the street and into the back yard of the bed and breakfast. When they chase the dog down they find him in a lakeside building next to a dead body. Their friend Savanah is under suspicion and Loretta works to solve the murder and clear her.
Dying to Get Married is the seventh book in Hope Callaghan’s Sweet Southern Sleuths Cozy Mystery Series and is a short story with a well-plotted storyline, well-developed characters, and an interesting mystery to try to solve. There are lots of laughs and no adult language, graphic violence, or sexually explicit scenes. This was easy to read and held my interest. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading light, cozy Christian mysteries.
Loretta and Lacy Sweet are walking Barkley their friend, Savannah Dogwood’s dog when he tugs on his leash in and breaks free. The sisters take off after Barkley and find him sitting guard over the body of Mary Beth Mays in a large, glass building located on Mossy Manor Bed and Breakfast’s property. Mary Beth and Graham Steele, Savannah’s ex-husband, were to be married in Mossy Manor’s gazebo the next day. The newspaper reported that the police have several suspects and hope to make an arrest soon but Officer Purvis informs Savannah that she’s their prime suspect. Loretta, Lacy, and their uncle, Ichabod McCoy, start their own investigation to clear Savannah’s name.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Quite funny! I like the short stories of the "Southern Sleuths". They keep my short attention span going to where I don't get sidetracked, and can read from start to finish in record time and really enjoy the story line. I like the last minute who dunnit being revealed in the last few pages. Great stuff, Hope. Thank you!! I look forward to reading more of your wonderful creations. God bless. Have a great weekend!
