About the author
Jack Hild
63 books2 followers"Jack Hild" is a pseudonym shared by multiple authors ghostwriting the Soldiers of Barrabas (SOBs) series of action-adventure novels. The most prolific of these authors were Robin Hardy and Alan Philipson.
Despite Hild's output being the work of several authors, the novelist Warren Murphy provided a cover endorsement saying "Jack Hild is simply the best and gutsiest action writer around today."
In backmatter to some of the SOBs books, the publishers Gold Eagle jokingly stated Hild's "whereabouts are unknown. No one associated with Gold Eagle Books has ever seen Jack, in person or in a photograph... If you should ever meet Jack Hild... let us know."

Closer to a 3.5, a solid squad based series. This time the SOBs are taking out a crazy giant named Jeremiah who has a large cult army in Central America. With it he wants to attack several targets at once making everyone think it's their enemies attacking thus starting a bigger war. One in which America and Russia will jump into leaving him to pick up the pieces and take over to have a whole country for his cult. Solid characters and I like the fact that in this series squad members will die and new ones appear throughout.

A decent entry in the series with a Jim Jones styled cult leader in Central America doing some really crazy stuff. The plot twists a bit and involves an unexpected person from the series into the final act. While it's nice to see the team back in action, and not doing a throwback to Nile's past mission, this one was hit and miss for me. While I liked some of the action scenes and twists the overall book was a bit lackluster compared to other entries in the series.

In places cringeworthy, but on the whole it does what it sets out to do. Like the author's previous book in this series, it has a forceful linear plot and some memorable set pieces. 2½

Another 3 stars. This time the S.O.B.s take on a cult leader in Central America. Better that the first 3 books. Hoping that this series keeps rolling in the right direction.
