This is a unique work of black history, telling the true story of "Sister" Caroline Terry who toiled as a slave on Rappahannock county plantations, saw the Civil War, bore the children of a white slavemaster and endured until the age of 108. The tale is told with humor and insight by her great-grandson who first heard these stories as a child.
very interesting book, recalling the story of a county in Virginia where I went several time. It would have benefited from a map of the area, so that we can follow along. Unfortunately, most of the location (stores...) are no longer there.
