Cocoa and Kinship in Ghana, The Matrilineal Akan of Ghana

Rate this book
"The study set out to seek the perceptions of cocoa extension agents in 2 districts of the Eastern region of Ghana, a region that is the centre of introduction of cocoa to Ghana in 1879 (Okali, 1983; Hill, 1963) but which has since lost her pre-eminence in terms of cocoa output to the western region because of devastations by diseases and pests. However, it is acknowledged by cocoa scientists (Appiah et al., 1997; Ahenkorah et al., 1987) that the Eastern region has the best soils and other environmental requirements for cocoa. "
