I think that this would be a good book for older children. It is a little more complex and uses bigger words, do most younger children probably would understand. The illustrations were done very well and were very colorful. But this book is labeled as a biography, though it does include a lot of Shakespeare's plays, it does not really include much about his actual life.

Great introduction to Shakespeare. Quotes from the plays are sprinkled throughout the pages. Vocabulary for obsolete words and snippets of historical information help the reader understand the quotes as well as the story. Illustrations are ink and watercolor on paper.

I read this to my niece yesterday and I'm not sure she was very into it. There isn't much story really, it's more a book of quotes from his plays about a subject and it didn't really mean anything to my niece. It did nothing to get her into the bard. She was bored.
