Well this was an interesting overview of the position and role of Israeli women since the Occupation, the note being that there is no single position since "women are fundamentally divided on issues such as peace, statehood, nationalism, and womanhood” (p.135) and "their ultimate political objectives are fundamentally irreconcilable” (p. 141). One eye-opener for me was the nationalist and single approach that the women in green have with regards to dehumanizing and dismissing the other, while the women in black had the opposite reaction with regards to acknowledging the other and admitting to the violations that the military is practicing. In turn, the feminists who ask for equal participation of women in the military have an overall different approach of what equity means, but the author challenges this notion too by asking whether the patriarchal mindset of the army and military does in fact present equality or more challenges for women. Some interesting insight here about how the different viewpoints have made for a more polarized perspective on the conflict from and about the Israeli women's 'rights.'
