Do you feel uptight and also off center - spacey, disorganized, confused, hyperactive, clumsy, impulsive, compulsive, distracted, or confusing left from right?
Do you also experience anxiety, depression, OCD or even depersonalization?
If so, you may have sensory processing disorder (SPD), a common, though relatively unknown condition in which sensory messages get scrambled in the brain and you cannot make accurate sense of or respond appropriately to your world.
"Uptight and Off Center" will help you discover the symptoms, causes and many treatments for SPD. It will teach you how to implement a sensory diet for your unique nervous system, along with mind-body interventions to get past a “nothing will work” attitude that, consciously or unconsciously keeps you caught in SPD’s lair. By implementing sensori-motor activities and mind-body interventions, you will rewire your brain to enable you to take better control over your life. Over time, this will translate into being more balanced, upbeat, productive, energetic and loving in your life.
A disappointing book. The first part got tantalisingly close to telling me a lot of interesting things, but I found it rather superficial and very repetitive. The second part was very general, trying to deal with all possible circumstances, and somehow managed to deal with none as a result.
The gave some good insight but not what to do with SPD in real world. I can see where everyone can have some sensory processing issues. I was reading and saying to myself. My mom had that or did that. I've felt that or done that, and I think everyone can relate to some parts of the book so now I'm confused. I mean I don't think everyone has sensory processing disorder so what is it about this book that confuses me is it seems like everyone has it. I wanted to read it because my grandson was diagnosed with it. My grandfather hated crowds and noise My daughter had no fear in anything riding snowmobiles, motorcycles, driving fast I hate to be touched by people who I don't know or hugged I have a fear flying My mother was sensitive to light, and yelling or loud voices My dog not human but human enough did not like noise of fireworks or being hugged by children
I just think everyone has their own quirks. Now you could have SPD if you have like a bunch of quirks. But hey, what is wrong with quirky people.
Disperso y repetitivo pero contiene información interesante
Uptight and Off center de Sharon Heller.
