A burgeoning sculptor in the Williamsburg art scene, Greer Langley loves her craft and has little time for much else. Spending her days locked away in her studio and her nights huddled on her rooftop gazing out at the city she's learned to call home, she's focused on one thing and one thing only: The Phoenix Juried Art Competition, an exhibit that will make or break her career.

Hunter Black has a thing for artsy girls and Greer is no exception. He's learned early to stay free of attachments, especially when they're the competition. But with sexy, determined Greer, he's been hooked ever since she caught his eye through a crowded gallery. He's never had an in with her. This time he will.

But when Hunter shows up to model for Greer and sparks fly, she suddenly realizes they're much more than artist and muse. He's ready to take the plunge with her… but will it destroy the one woman who's tamed his heart for good?

Omg! "Brooklyn Flame" has to be one of my new favorite romantic-suspense reads this year, and another prime example of contemporary fiction at its best! I totally enjoy Ms. Gibson's superb style of writing that flows so smoothly, I was never bored, not even for a second! The build-up in this new book's plot is perfectly woven, with a few intriguing subplots that will whet your appetite for the next books in this new "Bridge and Tunnel Romance" series!

This first story is so juicy & addicting that I forgot where I was and lost track of time in the real world around me :o lol There were just enough of twists and turns to keep me wondering, pages turning & propel my reading through this novella so quickly, that I did not want to put it down- then after I was finished left me craving more! Also, I loved the cool & hip, yet quirky characters that give us a peek at the ups & downs of various types of artists' lives. The details are flawless describing a metropolis like the NYC settings, from the artistic and interesting charm, to the baser raw and gritty side.

There were times I wanted to scream at Hunter, not to screw it up, and other times my eyes watered from the vivid descriptions after Greer had to endure a devastating loss. But through it all, I was silently cheering for the H/h to make it through the roller-coaster ride of their burgeoning relationship.

Even tho I was honored to be given an advanced reader copy to Beta read, I truly loved it so much that I actually PRE-Ordered my own copy to keep in my "favorite must read again" folder :D So yes, this is my honest review & I strongly recommend this book & author to all (Adults 18+) who love fiction of any genre! So, I highly suggest adding this to your TBR list and to 'One-click' your own copy :D Oh, and make sure you have plenty of time set aside, coz once you start, you won't want to stop either :D

firstly, I just love the cover.

I really enjoyed this story. Hunter was so hot I was fanning myself every time him and Greer were together. they had great chemistry. Though the ending seemed to wrap up too quickly for me..and I would've enjoyed more of them happy as the end. but other than that, very enjoyable read.

This novella takes place, not surprisingly, in NYC. It centers around the art community there - those young and starving artists who live for their craft, but haven't made a big name for themselves.
Our Heroine, Greer, creates sculptures. She has two very good friends, one a painter and the other a photographer. Everyone is artistically balanced and racially balanced, as one is a black girl raised in Harlem and the other is Asian(Korean) in Queens. They all seemed a bit bi*#$y, in my opinion, so the book got off to a slow start for me. I just didn't like them very much. They are all in the process of trying to create something masterful to enter in a Juried Art Competition, which offers a nice cash prize plus the esteem and recognition that would come from it.
Greer recently had a break-in and it shattered her sense of safety. She's gotten a gun she carries with her everywhere, and is leery of strangers. When she originally meets Hero Hunter in a “chance” encounter, she's very cold to him. When she sees him again later, she knows he's watching her, and, well, he is pretty hot looking.
Once Hunter got into the story, my interest level picked up immensely. As can be guessed, he and Greer get together. I've read a lot of sex scenes, but these were something else, something more. They were... artistic! So beautifully written - not just the “activities”, but what's going on in the characters' minds, and the banter between them, make this so frickin' hot! I was totally drawn in, emotionally.
The story also takes on a few unexpected twists and turns as it develops, which I won't spoil. Suffice to say, I ended up really loving this story! And also decided that Greer and her friends weren't so bad, after all. It's definitely worth your time to read this short book, even more so if you are a lover of the arts! A little slow to start, but otherwise, very well written!

So, this is one of those books where I don't really have a strong feeling one way or the other about the story. Nothing really stood out and grabbed me, but it was an okay way to spend a couple of hours in a book.

I think this is mostly due to the characters. I really didn't feel any pull toward Greer, she actually felt a bit standoffish to me. Yes, I know this is probably due at least in part to something that happened to her before the story starts, but it still made it hard for me to really warm up to her. Her friends Jennifer and Tasha were also difficult for me to like, and the way all three of them acted definitely made the "fussy artist" stereotype come to mind for me.

When Hunter is first introduced, I kind of fell for him...but as time goes on and we find out about his "friends" and what is going on some of the shine of him dulled for me. He got some of that back though through his actions, and if I had to pick a favorite character from the story, Hunter would be the one.

There's drama to be found, and naughtiness to be explored , and enough going on to keep my interest. To be honest I didn't feel like the chemistry between Greer and Hunter was terribly strong, so the ending didn't feel like there was full closure-especially since it ends almost immediately following the climax of the drama.

Brooklyn Flame was an average read for me, and gets 3 stars. Recommended for those 18+ due to adult language and sexual content.

Brooklyn Flame is a romance by new to me author Mira Gibson. I was plunked down into the Williamsburg, Brooklyn art scene of sculptor Greer Langley and her friends, photographer Tasha and painter Jennifer. These three are readying their pieces for the Phoenix Juried Art Competition but Greer is struggling with her piece. Enter Hunter Black. He is a bit of a mystery but Greer occupies a great deal of his thoughts even before they meet in the opening of the book. When he models for her, one thing leads to another and well...their steamy interlude is erotic and compelling, as is the next. I would have liked to know more about the all of the characters and their relationships with each other but I suppose the limits of a novella length story precluded that. The writing is great and I really enjoyed this story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
