The tension increases…

This is the third in an eight part serial and the story is steadily moving towards a climax that I’m anxious for yet dreading at the same time.

There is mystery and uncertainty between Jacob and Harper as secrets continue between them. The stakes seem higher as flashbacks continue to give the reader more insight into their shared past.

Jacob is brooding and ever mysterious even as snippets of his current and past life are exposed. The past paints a haunting and brutal picture, so easy to see why he wants to leave it all behind. Today, though, they are both wary even while they can’t seem to deny, or withstand, their physical appeal and the emotional connection.

“Harper McFadden made him feel torn and restless. She made him feel like this: uncomfortably bewildered and prickly.”

With memories that are poignant and troublesome, new memories are being created out of passionate need. This ride is nowhere near finished. ~ Diane, 4 Stars

••••••••••

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--- MAKE ME (releasing as an eight part serial) by Beth Kery is a stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on billionaire Jacob Latimer, and investigative journalist/editor Harper McFaddan.

Told from dual third person points of view using memories, flashbacks, dreams and present day MAKE ME follows the building relationship between Jacob Latimer and Harper McFaddan-a second chance of sorts-for two people whose lives, almost two decades earlier, intertwined their heart and souls.

Harper McFaddan recently moved to Tahoe Shores from San Francisco to start a new chapter in her life (following the death of her parents) but meeting reclusive billionaire Jacob Latimer finds our heroine caught between wanting to move forward and being pulled into the past. Jacob Latimer is a software entrepreneur whose secrets run deep; and little to nothing is known about his past. What ensues is a slow building romance between Jacob and Harper, as Jacob struggles with revealing the truth to the woman who calls to his soul.

MAKE ME is a sexually aggressive and graphic storyline with scenarios of bondage, rope play, and anal $ex that may be issues for some sensitive readers. Jacob is a man who likes control both in and out of the boardroom, and finds himself needing to claim Harper as his own. His fears of ‘losing’ Harper cause many anxious moments for a man whose reputation is cold and aloof. But little do most people know that Jacob is a man who has a need to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

The majority of the story line focuses on the relationship between Harper and Jacob interspersed with a series of flashbacks and dreams that will trigger memories from the past. We are introduced to Jacob’s inner circle-the people who know him best-yet the same people who know nothing about the boy he once was.

MAKE ME is an imaginative and spirited story line about betrayal and loss; grief and heartbreak; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is dramatic; the characters are captivating and intense; the romance is a slow build of passion, desire, wants and needs. MAKE ME is an erotic tale about fated lovers whose lives were destroyed by a single moment in time, but brought together for a second chance at forever and love.

Make Me is the newest serial novel from Beth Kery. There are 8 parts to this story with the first part releasing April 5, 2016 and part 8 scheduled to release May 24, 2016. I am not a fan of serial novels, but for me Beth Kery is the exception. Her stories are always so good that I know it will be worth the wait to get the whole story. Luckily I was able to read the whole story at one time, and let me tell you that it is definitely worth the read! Beth Kery never disappoints, and the Make Me serial is another fantastic read from her.

After a tragedy took her parents away from her, Harper McFadden moved from San Francisco to a small town on the shores of Lake Tahoe. Looking for peace, Harper never expected to meet the mysterious Jacob Latimer. Jacob is known for being a successful entrepreneur building his software company up from nothing, but rumors of shady business dealings have left many trying to dig deeper into his past. Jacob knows that the last person he should let near him is Harper, a journalist known for her investigative skills. Yet the connection between Harper and Jacob is more than either of them can fight and they find themselves unable to stay away from each other. But with secrets between them, can Jacob make Harper his or will the truth destroy any chance of a future together?

I really liked both Harper and Jacob. I felt the chemistry and connection between them right away, and with each new piece of information revealed I couldn't get enough of them! There was so much more to each of these characters than you see at first glance, and I really liked getting to know each of them better. Jacob was determined to make Harper his, yet he also knew that she was the one person that could expose everything he has hidden. Harper was looking for peace and healing after losing her parents, yet she was drawn to Jacob right away and couldn't fight the pull she felt to him. These two were great together, and I loved seeing how things played out for them.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one from start to finish. I am so glad that I didn't have to wait for the entire story, but let me tell you it is definitely worth it even if you do have to wait. The 8 installments are short and easy to read, and they leave you anxious for more. Jacob and Harper's story was impossible to put down, and I was intrigued right from the start. I don't want to go into details so I don't spoil the story, but I was surprised with all the twists and turns and I had to know what would happen next. Beth Kery is a fantastic writer, and this serial was filled with steam and emotion, as well as mystery and intrigue. I highly recommend this and any of Beth Kery's stories, and I already can't wait for more from her.

review

This was a fantastic series. I haven't read anything from Beth Kery in a long while so this was a nice treat to get. I received the serial as a complete series, so keep that in mind. They are coming out weekly currently. But again, this review is for the WHOLE serial.

This is an 8 part series with the first having released last week and the last set to release in May.

I love a good serial. I feel that the episodes have to be JUST long enough to really pull you in, but not long enough that you feel like your reading a while book. They should feel like an episode on TV and that is exactly what Beth did with this series. It was perfectly paced.

This serial follows Harper McFadden. She has recently moved from SanFran to Lake Tahoe and is rebuilding her life there. The last thing she thought would run into her life was Jacob Latimer. I swear, after the first meeting you will be happy he ran into it too. This guy was YUM. Okay, but really, he was a complete gentleman and had a GREAT dog. That just about seals it. I love a good guy who is not only nice to look at, but more importantly kind with a good heart. You see that right from the start with him.

Jacob though earnest and sweet, could have a shady past. There have been rumors, and honestly that LAST thing he needs is a reporter getting close to him. What a shame because fate just won't allow Harper not to be a part of his life.

I felt like this wasn't quite a cat and mouse story, but kind of was at the same time. It was a suspense filled romance about accepting each other for who they are, and knowing that you can share your secrets with the right people. I was rooting for this couple from that first meeting. It was Kismet and I wasn't having it any other way.

Plus, some of those scenes will ave you fanning yourself. JUST SAYIN!

My Thoughts

In this third installment, we are seeing the aftermath of really what was the first real interaction sexually between these 2, and how both have to deal with it. We're seeing that Jacob is having a harder time separating the past from the present when he gets into his head, and that is manifesting itself into something that makes Harper uncomfortable.

All that being said, the story continues. We see Jacob's friend Cyril questioning his interest in Harper since she's not his type, and that line of conversation puts Jacob off balance which is doesn't like. he's forced to really internalize what he's doing, which is something that doesn't often happen.

The nice thing here is that while he's digesting things, we get another bit of a flashback to when Jacob and Harper met, and we're seeing how their relationship / interaction began. It's not quite that deep yet, but we're seeing what happened 20 years ago to make their paths connect.

It's only after that, where we see Jacob finally take things into his own hand and go to Harper and try to explain himself. Where they go from there is then all in typical Beth Kery style - incredibly hot and steamy, super sexy and passionate. Where they go with their needs, well we see what Jacob means about what he needs in a partner, and how he takes Harper there, even though he knows exactly why in theory she'd be uncomfortable.

While she still doesn't recognize him, he keeps trying to nudge that memory - but learns an interesting reason for why she may never make the connection. There's something more there about what happened to her post the kidnapping 20 years ago that i'd really like to get into in the next book since i feel like there's another twist coming that will shake things up.

So on that note, since i was slow to read this one this week, at least i don't have to wait so long for the next. Have a great weekend!

Beth Kery IGNITES the pages in her latest installment of her Make Me Serial Series! A simmering love story that continues to build with each new addition, MAKE ME SAY IT dives deeper into the past of Harper and Jacob. One remembers all too painfully, the other is blissfully aware. I have a feeling in the coming installments, that will change, and these character's lives will never be the same.

The drama, sex, and heartbreak continues and Beth Kery is holding no prisoners! Jacob is struggling for control, and Harper is still trying to figure him out. He could be just what she needs, but deep down, she knows that he is going to break her heart. Emotions will get in the way and hearts will shatter when the truth is revealed. I'm excited to see how the author will execute this. Will Jacob be able to move on from his guilt? How will Harper find out what Jacob is hiding from her?

I'm just rubbing my hands together, contemplating and imaging how this will turn out. Each new book brings a new level of excitement and intrigue. This is one erotic tale you DO NOT want to miss out on.

Final Score - 4.5 Oh Boy Stars!

Harper just recently lost her parents in an accident. She's running from the pain of that experience by quitting her job & moving West to a quaint and quite Lake Tahoe, who's most famous resident is...

Jacob is entrepreneur. He's built himself an empire, but values his privacy & hides the secrets of his past... secrets that are connect to someone else, who doesn't remember...

Harper & Jake meet during a jog/swim by the lake one day and strike up a conversation. A seemingly innocent encounter ... or is it? Could they have possible met before?

This book will leave you HOT & BOTHERED! Whoa, does Jake know his way around the bedroom or what?! But, I'm once again left with EVEN more questions that need to be answered!

Now Harper is having nightmares ... is her brain struggling to remember who Jake is or not? Why is Jake still hiding himself from her? Does Harper recognize Jake and that's what is triggering the break of her hypnosis? How will this revelation impact their burgeoning relationship?

I can't wait for the next installment in this series!

Jacob's friend can see the difference within him when he is around Harper and the way he acts towards her. He wants her but then he doesn't, there is still so much that is unsaid. Harper is at the point of just letting whatever it is or was go, as she has been down this road with men before. But Jacob wants what he wants and goes after it.

What I enjoyed most about Make Me Say It is seeing Jacob care enough to not want Harper to remember their past but also the sadness in his eyes that she doesnt remember him from their time together 20 years ago.. I liked the past parts that gives us a look into what they both went through when they were kids.

Another great book in the Make Me series. We are getting more glimpses into their shared past, Jacob tells and shares with Harper his like for kink in the bedroom and some sexy times. There is still so much that Jacob keeps from Harper, but at least he is trying harder to not hurt her feelings. If you like stories like this, then Make Me Say It is a must!!

The third installment tells us more about when Jacob and Harper were younger. This installment tells about how they escaped and I hope to learn more about there younger years. You also get a glimpse as to why she does remember Jacob. I'm so glad he decided to go to Harper and make up with her they were both miserable without the other always thinking of one another. Again in this installment the sex is off the charts and we get to see what Jacob likes in the bedroom. Little does Harper know she enjoys it too. A definite page turner and can't wait to read the next one. Reviewed on behalf of Once Upon An Alpha.

This is a serial and should be read in order.

Harper and Jacob are delving more into their sexual relationship in this book. She allows him to do things to her she hadn't experienced before. In turn, he gives her great pleasure.

We also get a chunk of their past and what happened when they were kids. I love getting a little of the past along with their present day lives. It allows you to get a deeper connection to the characters.

Now onto the next book.

I'm glad that Jacob realized where he went wrong with Harper in the last one and took steps to rectify the situation. More with their shared back story. It's interesting how far Jacob went to save Harper and how he made so many allowances for her. You can tell the adult man wants Harper to remember the boy and is hurt that she doesn't, but it seems there might be a good reason for that. Not sure how I feel about that, part good, part bad.

I am falling deeper and deeper in love with characters. It's like as each novella continues, I just get more and more addicted... and I like it.
This novella was the one for me. The one where we get to see what he really did for Harper. Not only that, but we get to see almost a vulnerable side. How he's still holding on to the past, his past. To me, this is also where their relationship took another step. Another hot as hell step. Just.. cuffs.

Thanks to my friends at Berkley Romance, I was able to read all 8 parts of this serial novel at once. And thank goodness for that, too. Because I suck at patience.

I enjoyed this series, and although there were times when the story in the present seemed to drag a bit, the periodic flashbacks really helped with that. The beginning and the ending were pretty great, too.

More to come soon.

I wrote this review after reading the first three books out of eight.
***************

This is a first to me with Beth's work...

I'm finding this books a little heavy and unflowing. I skimming a lot because I'm bored from the BDSM scenes. It's not my coppa. All that calculating sex moves and the "don't touch me or I'll bind you" bullshit.
It's soooo old and not sexy.

So here we are with part 3, and the fun begins here with lots of twists and turns with mysteries and uncertainties between Jacob and Harper. The best of all the stakes are getting higher as flashbacks continue to give, us readers more insights to their pasts. I really loved the chemistry between Jacob and Harper. Definitely worth to read and 5*****
