A Year on the Run: 365 stories from the world of running
A Year on the Run takes every day of the year and tells a single running story from it. With striking and beautiful illustrations inspired by the stories told, the world of running is brought to life like never before. Entries recount historic wins, infamous incidents and incredible feats of endurance. From Paula Radcliffe's record-breaking marathon win to the birth of the gruelling Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc and even bizarre moments from the sport, such as Kilian Jornet's tequila stop on his way to winning the Hardrock 100 and the Bangkok half-marathon U-turn that set runners on a much longer journey than expected. Running writer Damian Hall brings together the most important, memorable and intriguing moments of this wide and varied sport. With stunning illustrations by artist Daniel Seex, each inspired by the stories told, A Year on the Run is a sporting treasure trove of human virtue, vice and running trivia.

Thinking Damian Hall's one-a-day compendium would be perfect for a running acquaintance, I bought it instead as a gift to myself. Well, everyone knows gifts to oneself are like fourth-grade crushes--impulsive and short-lived. "A Year on the Run" is a weekend fling at best. The daily facts are quirky and refreshingly British, but not necessarily inspirational. The best part about this book is its beautiful hard-cover construction and color illustrations. Re-brand this as a coffee-table running art sample and everyone wins.

I started reading this book on Jan. 1 and reading a page a day to keep up with the book’s timeline. The stories were full of some bizarre and obscure facts which made it interesting but as the year wore on I did find it hard to come up with a common theme of the book. I agree with many of the other readers that this would make a good coffee table book. It’s definitely a book for avid runners.

There are some really interesting facts and stories but I found it difficult to actually get in to and read. Found myself opening at random pages to see what the fact was. Didnt get much joy from dipping in and out. I gave up in the end and haven’t actually read all 365 stories.

Extremely boring

As a runner I found this a quirky anecdotal collection of stories loosely based around dates in a year. Lovely illustrations, a coffee table book.
