If there were little or no text, mainly photographs, this book - published in 1987 - would seem contemporary. Most all the pieces have a strong geometric feel to them, some avant-garde, and they all look beautifully crafted. Much of the introductory text can be skipped - curators' drivel is a pet peeve of mine. The architects were asked the same questions, to explain motivation, presumably, but those answers can mostly be skipped, too. (Do you like buying jewelry for a woman? Do you like seeing a woman wearing jewelry?...) Argh. This is an interesting book to flip through, though.
