As with all Interweave titles, the instructions and diagrams in Exotic Adornments: 18 Luxurious Beadwork Jewelry Projects are first-rate, although some familiarity with at least peyote stitch and right-angle weave will be helpful to attack these complicated, intermediate-level projects. Aside from the fact that I'm not a big fan of pure "project" books – I prefer technique instruction that helps me design, not replicate – these jewelry pieces are just waaaaay too ornate for my taste. Every single item within would not look out of place on a full-regalia Indian bride, or in an old-school Bollywood dance number. But if that's what you're after, this book will walk you through 18 glittery, glamorous projects – mostly necklaces and bracelets, but with a few (extremely heavy-looking) earrings as well. The materials used are all standard Japanese seed beads and Swarovski crystals, with easily-sourced components and findings.

Smart beading book. Love that the introduction says right up front that the book is for people with some experience beading and that it’s a project book, not a technique book. Bravo for truth! The projects themselves are very lush, sprinkled with tips, numerous photos, and clear graphics. The overview of different beading techniques - despite the author saying this isn’t a techniques book - is very clear. I bet a newbie could try one of these projects with the clarity of the technique directions. Nice variety of projects, styles, and color ways.
