Eliot Cross is ready to close up his PI business and try something different. But a phone call takes him on one last case. The major player in the weights and scales industry is about to unveil a revolutionary breakthrough when they find that part of the design is being presented by a rival company. The rival announces that they will be revealing the last components after a major trade show. Cross needs to find out who stole the first part and how they plan on getting the rest. This is a pure noir detective story featuring an alcoholic burned out detective with beautiful women throwing themselves at him, a friend on the police force and lots of red herrings. Not my kind of hero but a decent story.

A rollicking, fun read. Anyone who loves a good PI story will enjoy this book.
