ผู้ใหญ่ลีกับนางมา by กาญจนา นาคนันทน์ is a light romantic novel set on a farm in the countryside.
The story follows Malinee, a former model who moves to the countryside to take care of her grandmother’s farm after her passing. As the last member of her family, she has to take on everything by herself. There, she hears a lot about Leenawat, the village chief she has never met, yet someone everyone seems to admire especially her grandmother.
This book has everything that makes me love it: realistic characters, a strong and distinctive writing style, and a timeless atmosphere. First published in 1965, the language feels natural and elegant in a way that’s quite different from modern writing. The “enemies to lovers” trope is also one of my favorites, and it’s done really well here.
I’ve read this book countless times it’s my comfort read, the kind of story I can come back to again and again.
