The revolutionary War: The Making of America: The Making of America- An Introduction to the People, the Ideas, And the Major Events of the American Revolution
“The Revolutionary War: The Making of America” retells the story of the American Revolution in a way that captures your attention and is as educational as it is entertaining. This book covers the events of the American Revolution, but also their cultural and historical significance. This book also overviews the most important players on both sides of the conflict, and pays special attention to the key figures who led this military and political struggle and went on to found the American republic.
Millions of words have been spilled in discussions of the American Revolution. It might make you wonder, how does this small book make any difference? The difference I hope to make is to introduce you to the Revolution at breakneck speed. Don’t be fooled by the size of this book; it’s small, but it’s still packed with information that other books tend to forget. This book does not seek to add something new to our understanding of the Revolution, nor does it review the events from a perspective that has never been considered. Instead, “The Making of America” should be read as an easy-to-read reference point that contains from cover to cover everything you need to know about the American Revolution.
This was an interesting read. It often helps to re-familiarize with what we've learned in the past about the past. The book is informative and entertaining yet jumps around chronologically. I'd rather have it go straight through with only small side notes to further explain what's discussed in each moment. I'd also have liked clearer information on some things.
The premise was good in that it was a quick history of the American Revolution. There are too many grammatical errors and words missing from sentences in this book though. It is frustrating to read and have to re-read sentences that didn't make sense and add in missing words. Please take the time to do a better job of proofreading and revising your work before submitting it
This is a rudimentary history of the American Revolutionary War. It provides basic facts and figures without much elaboration. It seems to be accurate. I do wish that the Kindle edition were not so full of print errors. For instance, in almost all cases here, "Benedict Arnold" becomes "Arnold Benedict". I find this very annoying.
Johnson gives a great review of the events surrounding the war of independents. Unlike an exhaustive history this book was easy to read. The language was clear and the book brief enough to make the subject engaging.
