The study of ancient Greek theory has captivated the interest of scholars in an unceasing line from the time of Boethius to the present and has been the source of much publication from the fifteenth century onward. Obscured by diversity and age, the vast array of material has often been difficult to uncover. Bibliographies appearing from time to time have helped to gather some material from particular periods but have often been a source of confusion in their use of abbreviations and inaccurate citations. This bibliography attempts to gather together all the myriad sources dealing with ancient Greek music theory.
If a comprehensive bibliography will stimulate renewed research in this field, its purposes will be fulfilled, and the captivating puzzle of ancient Greek music will continue to intrigue us.
