101 Mistakes offers many valuable tips for improving your golf game. The majority of the tips are geared toward the bogey golfer, who shoots around 90. These tips will help that golfer. If you are a low, single-digit handicap, you are unlikely to find many tips that you haven’t already heard. That said, I enjoyed the read!
Solid tips and advice to help golfers of all skill levels improve. While maybe geared more toward the beginner or novice, I'd venture to say that every golfer will get at least 1 or 2 tidbits from this book that will help their game, mental approach, or enjoyment of the game.
Sherman uses practical, sensible advice to help deal with the dreaded ‘rectal/cranial inversions’ so common to my game. Slow down, listen to him, have a plan, balance practice with course time, and you’ll have less time with your head stuck up your….(ahem). I wished there were occasional moments of humor, but all-in-all this is a book you can pick up and find yourself on the pages.
After going through two of Harvey Penick’s wonderful books, I decided to follow that up with more golf. What can I say; I love the game and every part of it. This book is a wonderful look inside the game and the little things that every single golfer can do to improve their game. It doesn’t try to change your swing, or give you step-by-step instruction, but instead dives into the mind and allows for easy to follow instruction with tips that are sure to improve anybody’s game if implemented on the course or even at the range. Wonderful read.
Very good suggestions for working on your game. Obviously 101 maybe more than you need, but it touches on more than few for most golfers. Improvement requires work and focus. And selecting a few ideas from this book can certainly provide a starting point. Most ideas are common sense and don't require additional investment. Just more thoughtfulness about your game.
