Little Miss Scatterbrain met Little Miss Late in a street in Nonsenseland and asked why the streets were so empty. Miss Late explained that it was the day of the Nonsense Cup and as the winner was about to be announced, everyone had gone to hear the result.

Mr Nonsense lived in Nonsenseland in a house at the top of a tree and if one was to take a walk in Nonsenseland one would be astonishingly astonished. One reason would be that they play a strange game of tennis in the town, using strange rackets. And on this particular day Mr Nonsense was playing with Mr Silly and Little Miss Dotty; bizarrely the fourth player was a very cute pink pig!

Unfortunately a tennis ball struck Mr Nonsense right on the nose and he was knocked out. His friends were worried for they tried to revive him but had no success.

Meanwhile the competition for the Nonsense Cup had begun and one by one the contestants amazed the crowd with their silly ideas. For instance, there was a helmet with wings and a clock with no numbers and no hands - not surprisingly that was presented by Mr Lazy as he knew that with it the alarm would never go off and he would be able to sleep for as long as he liked! And Mr Bounce had an egg juggling act - what a silly idea!

Then Mr Nonsense came round and Mr Silly asked him how he was. but on hearing the name Mr Nonsense, he swore that it wasn't his name. Little Miss Dotty tried to persuade him that it was and even pointed out his house at the top of the tree. But Mr Nonsense said it wasn't, adding, 'Only birds live in trees.'

And when he and his friends reached the competition, Miss Dotty pushed him on the stage where Little Miss Brainy met him and said that she expected he would have a splendidly silly idea as he usually had each year. All Mr Nonsense could say was that he was not Mr Nonsense; the bump on the head had obviously done him untold harm.

Anyway the more he asserted that he was not Mr Nonsense, the more the audience clapped and eventually he was declared the winner of the Nonsense Cup and you know why? He had no silly idea but his insistence that he was not Mr Nonsense endeared him to the judges as they thought it his silliest idea yet! And to round off the night, Mr Bounce joined in the celebrations by juggling his eggs higher and higher - that is until one went so high he couldn't catch it and it hit Mr Nonsense on the nose.

The outcome of that unfortunate incident was that Mr Nonsense got his memory back and he took Little Miss Dotty out for a strawberry jam and mustard omelette - ugh, sounds awful. And I bet you can't guess what Mr Nonsense went on to do when he played tennis ... sorry, I'm not telling ...

This isn't the greatest Mr Men storyline but it is a little bit of funny nonsense!

Spotted this in the corner yesterday, 20 April 2020, and gave it another read. I feel that I may have been a little harsh in my first assessment and would now rate it as three stars!

The storyline is as above and it still is 'a funny bit of nonsense' and good for a chuckle!
