Make a Great Impression Good manners never go out of style. Personal Empowerment Strategist and former Fortune 500 VP Deborah Smith Pegues knows what it takes to succeed in both the personal and professional world. Her on-point advice regarding courtesy and consideration covers a variety of situations—from Internet etiquette and business savvy to tourist tips and everyday encounters. Gain greater confidence as you Once you've mastered the art of propriety and protocol, you'll be at ease in any social setting—formal or informal—and confident in your role as host or guest, business owner or client. A one-minute manners makeover is one of the best investments you can make in your future.
I find this etiquette guide being smart, savvy and practical - and also easy to use, warm and fun! The authoress covers many areas of the work and personal life and her advice is spot-on. She also brings a nice perspective of the three principles of etiquette: consideration, convenience and common sense. After all, being well-mannered is a form of respect given to yourself and the others.
This book is about how to succeed in social and business life, by tips she provides. She provides practical tips for "navigating any situation".
Essentially this book is chock-full of information of etiquette and tips on how to navigate life. It has a lot of helpful information, especially for those who weren't raised on the polite ways to treat other people and the social etiquette in life. Things like opening the door and saying "thank you" should be expected and understood. But Deborah seems to understand that in today's era, these tips are much needed.
That said, the title I think is just a little misleading. Yes, the information is helpful, but the book is essentially an etiquette book. Everything contained is etiquette and way you are supposed to act in every situation you encounter. So the tips on how to be socially confident in 60 seconds isn't really a great title. Because nowhere within the pages did it tell you what the formula was that in 60 seconds, you'd be confident. Essentially the confidence comes about by no longer thinking of yourself and your failures, but focusing on others around you. It was an interesting read, one that after the first few chapters I skimmed through.
I received this complimentary from NetGalley from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
This was a good etiquette book for those who polish themselves up a bit. Easy to read and easy to traverse. The book did not weigh you down with too many rules. Most any situation can be handled with the proper amount of common sense. Good read for those who want to appear more poised.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC for my honest review
Excellent book. Easy read. Definitely a must have on book shelves everywhere. Everything on etiquette, good manners, protocol. Covering a wide range of topics, very detailed and yet very brief.
Useful and easy read and I enjoyed it. I found it to contain helpful information and would recommend to new graduates or those making a change in careers. Thanks to NetGalley for the early copy of the book.
