FAMILIES ARE FOREVER

SUDDENLY A WIFE

Toni Anderson knew she owed Zachary Knight a favor. But she never dreamed he would propose a marriage of convenience so she could be mother to the twin daughters he'd never known he had!

With the girls' real mother gone, Zach had to prove they would have a stable home life—or lose them. And he didn't know he was offering her the impossible: children to call her own. Trouble was, wife-wary Zach insisted the marriage was to be strictly platonic. But one searing kiss between the instant couple proved that the arrangement was going to be impossible to keep.

Happily ever after—with kids!

The last book in this series about four sibling and what can I say all of them have followed the same formula, h/H have had terrible love-lives before meeting each other, hero with divorces from terrible women and heroine with terrible ex-husbands/fiancee's; with some suspense thrown in. The hero is ex-special forces and works security at the heroine's dad's company. His life is turned upside down when he discovers that his dead ex never told him he was the father of twins who now have to come live with him. The heroine has a PhD in ornithology, has a cheating ex-fiancee under her belt and believes she can't have kids because of a terrible accident she was involved in when she was 16. The hero asks for her help initially with his daughters and then again after his ex's sister threatens to sue for custody. The hero offers her a business deal of a marriage and the heroine accepts because she loves his daughters. Of course pesky things like chemistry and attraction get in the way and we get our HEA. The suspense sub-plot deals with embezzling murdering employees.

3 1/2 Stars ~ Zach is a Security Chief for an oil company in Texas; divorced, ex-Special Forces, and certain that he's not the lovable sort. In the midst of a crisis at work, he receives a call from Phoenix that his ex-wife has died in a car accident and he needs to go and get his twin daughters. This throws Zach for a loop as he hadn't known his ex-wife was pregnant when they divorced. One look at the four year-olds is enough to convince him they are his, as they take after his mother. Toni is Zach's boss's daughter and she's finds Zach attractive but he's always got the hands off sign on. When she sees him with his girls and clearly out of his depth, she buts in and the next thing she knows is she's agreeing to marry him. Zach's received a letter from his ex's sister claiming guardianship of the girls so to convince the courts that he can provide a stable home he needs a wife. Toni adores the girls and as she'd been warned that one of the results of a horrible auto accident years ago made it difficult for her to conceive, she agrees to marry Zach and be the mother of his girls. Zach insists on a platonic marriage, that is until their chemistry wears him down. And as he's dealing with the challenges of a new family, he's facing danger at work as he gets closer to the leader of a theft ring.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Harris and I'm looking forward to finding others from her backlist. Zach is a wounded hero, growing up rejected and then later a bitter marriage, has left him unable to trust in love. Toni shows him that there are so many ways to show love and that he's doing it everyday with his girls and in the all the little things he automatically does to make her life better. Toni's got her own demons from her accident. The girls are adorable mischief-makers that add charm to this love story. I enjoyed the suspense element of Zach's troubles at work and how together with Toni, they find the answers. This was a pleasant read.
