Alfred Barkov, philosopher and historian of literature, is one of the circle of neo-Pushkinists (the others are Latsis, Druzhnikov, Petrakov, Kozarovetskii, etc). According to the author Eugene Onegin is one of the most complicated works in the Russian canon. Its conception is still not well understood.
