This book is a chronicle of my journeys as a young black man from the South pursuing a career as a violinist in the U.S. This book is not an autobiography; rather, it is a collection of stories and thoughts, which are centered around the things that I felt during this time about American life.

These words span from my early childhood memories to my mid-30’s, culminating with the decision to leave the United States in 1984, when I moved to live in France for 14 years before eventually returning to the U.S. in 1998. It is thus my goal with this book to provide a bit of insight and shedding some light upon the challenges that I had to face growing up in America and pursuing the violin as a career.
