As a short story, it was an okay read for me. Of course, it started pretty much in the 'middle' as the blurb implied. Riley and Landon are already together for 8 months. Readers pretty much got their story, as well as Riley's earlier conflict with his ex-partner Dyami -- which results in current threats from her -- from conversations or references. We didn't exactly have flashbacks to "see" those events.
So it was fine, I could still follow everything. But to be fair, this was not a short story that is very memorable for me in the future.

This was my second pick for short story week, and since I was on a roll with NetGalley and Less Than Three Press, I rolled with it. The premise looked quite good. Unfortunately for me, though, the reality was not so much.
I do still love the cover of the book, and I enjoyed learning a little about the black magic and white magic, but I think the fact it was less than 50 pgs, and started out with an explicit sex scene, and ended with a ‘world and mind blowing’ sex scene, well, I just wished I’d connected more with the characters.
And the black magic, well, the talk of revenge and an animal sacrifice on page just made me sad. The writing tended to be a little jilted, and I didn’t really get a feel for why Riley and Landon were together. Maybe if there had been a bit of a back story for how they’d met, and how Riley still had this connection and admiration for his female former dark arts partner, it might’ve worked better for me.
Anyway, I’m not sorry I gave it a try, and think the author should keep writing more, as the descriptions were pretty good. I just hope she gets a chance to work more on character development so the reader can connect more, instead of being told how things are, rather than getting a chance to feel it.
I’d give this a 6/10 pots of gold. That translates to 60% recommended out of 100%, or 3/5 stars.

Riley and Landon practice magic, although Riley is always holding back hoping that Landon won't get tainted by the dark magic he used to practice. When Rileys old dark magic partner Dyami shows up in town things start get a little strange.
This story felt very rushed. I feel like the author could have expanded this and made it a longer more in depth story instead of a short speedy one. I feel like with more character development and a longer plot this book would have been more enjoyable. While it was okay it had the potential for so much more. If you are looking for short and sexy this story has it just don't expect too much from the plot.

A supernatural LGBT romance, this story follows a young man as his past comes back to haunt him and drag his boyfriends into the mix. It was a simple plot, no subplots or mystery really, and it was an easy read. I didn't feel that we really got to understand the characters fully and wish there was more to the villain as well. Also, there's a detailed sex scene in the very start of the book and while I'm not against there being a sex scene or anything, I just didn't think it added to the plot and felt as if it was just there to be a surprise/fan service to the reader.

From Magnolia Reviews: Three Petals
I found this story cute and fun, so I do recommend it. However, I had difficulties telling the two main characters apart at times and felt like there was something missing to the overall plot. This was a good read that needed just a bit more to be great.
