Focus on English and American Literature

Rate this book
This is an all-inclusive instrument for the study of British and American literature from its origins to the present day. All the most important authors are present, with highly representative excerpts and helpful bibliographical information. Each excerpt is also equipped with a full glossary and a series of exercises to test and stimulate further understanding. Each major period of history is described with regard to historical, social and literary developments, which permit the students to place the literary excerpts into a larger context.
This volume also includes other important features. Several cross-cultural sections offer students a panorama of the cultural scene in the rest of Europe, with regard to all the arts. With this same aim of expanding the students’ horizons, the Nobel Prize winners in literature of the entire English-speaking world for the last half of the twentieth century have also been included: this last feature will show the students in a convincing way how English has become a truly world language.
Finally, the volume comes with an audio CD, containing readings of many of the selections of the anthology, and a TEACHER’S GUIDE with a KEY.
