“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” ― Jane Austen
Jane Austen (born 16 December 1775 – dead 18 July 1817) was a British author whose great works of romantic fiction earned her a place as one of the most popular authors in British literature. Her biting irony, social commentary and realism, as well as her acclaimed plots have gained her great historical importance among critics and scholars. There's a lot of interesting as well as classic quotes found in Jane's world famous books and here a collection with no less than 800 of the very best. Please enjoy!
The title says it all. This is literally pages and pages of quotes from Jane Austen's works and her letters.
I love reading quotes from Austen so it was no hardship perusing these, but that is about the extent that one can hope for from this book. The quotes are about four to five a page, randomly placed. They are not organized in any helpful way I can tell. If this were fancied up in a beautiful cover and book format with pictures and illustrations it would make a great coffee table flip book.
I mean this as no reproach to the book of quotes because they are Austen's quotes, but I would not purchase this as it is just a random book of quotes that I could have assembled for myself in better order.
