Josie's Review

This is my first time reading a book from this author, but after I read this book I went back and started to click on her books. Casey Peeler does an amazing job in bringing two very different characters together in a beautiful, touching and at times comical way. She brilliantly wrote a story that had me falling in love, crying my eyes out, wanting to scratch out not one, but two slurry troll moles while laughing out loud. The story starts off with a very emotional goodbye in New York City to the southern country side. The story is told by Cadence and Barrick’s POV’s, which I for one loved getting to know each characters feeling, thoughts and their struggles. Cadence is forced to leave her life in New York City and restart her life in her mother’s home town of Delight North Carolina. She is used to the city life, city clothes and getting anything she wants.

Tutu and Cowboy Boots is a story about a young girl trying to find her way in a simple country town. Being uprooted from everything she knows, due to her father’s poor choices proves very difficult. Of course she is a typical, anger and rebellious teenager. I have to say that life on the farm with her grandmother Ms. Mae, was funny and difficult, her grandmother is a trip. She is also a strong and feisty woman that is determined to teach her granddaughter manners. Cadence has to do chores around the farm, and she is not happy at all, but that puts her in contact with Barrick.

OMG!! Barrick, he makes me want to go to Delight and take him home. Barrick is a simple country boy. He is polite, hardworking and wears cowboy boots!! He is content with his life and never wants to leave home. Once Barrick sets his eyes on Cadence he is at awe with her beauty but he also finds it funny how out of place she is.

The banter and back and forth between Cadence and Barrick was hilarious, the two are total opposite. Barrick makes sure to torture Cadence with the farm work, while Cadence tortures him with her city ways. But Barrick also sees something different when he sees her dance in the back yard, he sees the real Cadence, the one that she hides from everyone. He can tell she is sad and suffering, and he wants to see more of the real girl. Cadence just wants to go back to New York and get back to the way things once were. Cadence befriends and girl name Jade, and Jade will teach her there is more to country life that she thinks.

I loved how the author developed the relationship between Barrick and Cadence, it was not sudden, it was a slow build up and it was clean. There was nothing dirty or sexual between them. They started out as enemies, then friends and then ended with more. I felt so bad for Cadence, this author does an amazing job showing readers just how much her father’s choices affected her and her mother. We slowly start to see Cadence mature and change over month. She starts to embrace her new life, but what happens when she has the opportunity to go back New York? I cannot wait to see more of Barrick, Cadence and Jade in part 2 of this series.

Tutus & Cowboy Boots a cute, sweet read. It's told from the dual POVs of Cadence and Barrick. I loved books told in dual POVs.
Cadence had been living a great life in New York. She had everything she wanted and was preparing for her senior dance project with the hope of being signed but a great dance company. Everything comes to a halt when her parents divorce and her mom bring her back to Delight North Carolina. I loved Cadence. At some points she seemed bratty and entitled but then I remember that she was a city girl forced to embrace the country life and she didn't want to. Casey did a great job capturing the way Cadence felt about moving.
Barrick is a country boy. He has dream of owning his own farm. He helps out on Ms. Mae's farm. Ms. Mae is Cadence's gram. I loved the back and forth and pranks that Barrick and Cadence play on each. Barrick has a lot to balance and work on the farm and take classes at the community college but he also seems to be there when he's needed.
I loved that when Cadence goes back to visit New York, we can see how much she has changed and grown. I wish her father wasn't so self centered and paid her more attention.
I didn't want this book to end. It was too short and I can't wait to read the next one.

One of the things I love most is how Peeler takes me back to my own roots as a young girl growing up in a southern town. She stays true to herself and her style of writing which ultimately always gives you a book filled with depth, that is easily relatable and great story. Tutus and Cowboy Boots is exactly the epitome of what Peeler does best! She continues to write wonderful stories of young adults on the cusp of adulthood with strong moral character and life lessons to be learned.

Cadence Lewis is the NYC transplant who has been uprooted by her parent’s divorce and forced to move back to her mother’s podunk town. She is sullen, abrasive at times and definitely not Southern by any definition. She is angry over the divorce, the move and most of all she is lost without her ballet studio.

Barrick Carpenter is the definition of a Southern gentleman. He works the land for Cadence’s grandmother and even though he isn’t fond of this New York socialite taking root in his barn, he will do whatever her grandmother asks because that is how he is raised. Although he might get a laugh or two just for fun.

I loved the banter between Barrick and Cadence. Their pranks and general banter between each other had me sucked into the story. Having grown up in the south and in a town much like Delight, I could relate easily to these two and their lives. I truly enjoyed the strong moral value that Cadence grandmother was instilling in her and the message that she was delivering. The bond that she creates between characters is something that always amazes me. It reminded me of my close relationship with my Southern grandmother and the lessons I learned from her. Peeler’s depth of family is what I love best about her books.

Just as the story was getting good, Peeler ends it abruptly. By abruptly I mean, I was reading it and kept hitting the next button thinking I was missing something. Just as you begin to see the story grown and unfold Peeler sends us on one hell of a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to find out what is in store for Cadence. If you are looking for a sweet story about southern life that leaves you smiling, make you feel good happy then look no further than Peeler’s Tutus and Cowboy Boots. It’s what she does best!

I have to say I have loved EVERYTHING Casey has written. Let's face it she is the Queen of Young Adult books. Tutu's and Cowboy Boots did not disappoint.

Cadence is your typical spoiled little rich girl who thinks that she is better than everyone. Especially when something happens and her and her mom leave the big city to go stay on her grandma's farm.

Omg! That's horrible right? It was actually really funny to read about this city girl who can dance like an angel, falling around in muddy boots, scooping up horse poo. She thought she was better than everyone but we soon started to see her true colors. Cadence was shielding herself from hurt. You know the if you don't let anyone close then the pain won't come.

Then there is Barrick... a sweet, southern gentleman- well most of the time, at least when he wasn't giving Cadence a hard time.

The two are thrown together to work but soon, the pranks become flirting and Barrick is there for her when she needs him the most.

Is it April yet? Because I need more. I need to know what happens.

I was honored with the gift of receiving an ARC copy of Tutu's and Cowboy Boots! And let me tell you this is an absolute MUST read!

Cadence is a city slicker whose life is part of the New York elite. But it's senior year and she's forced to move to Delight, North Carolina when her parents divorce because of her cheating father. She learns through trial and error that the farm life just may be more of her style than she thinks.

Barrick is your typical charming southern perfection. Upon meeting cadence he knew he would be in for a trip with this sassy talking girl. He didn't expect to develop more for her and trying to get her to open up.

City meets country and like I knew would happen country may just trump out the city life.

Casey Peeler is an awesome writer! She sucks you in with her characters and their lives. She makes them relatable and you can't help but fall in love. Her stories are raw and real! You can't put her books down! If you haven't read any of her books your missing out!!!

I really enjoyed reading this story. The story is of, Cadence, a girl who has lived in New York all her life and then one day discovers that her father has cheated and is leaving her and her mother for the "bimbo."
Then her mother explains that they are moving to Delight, (Hillbilly USA), North Carolina, to live with her grandmother. And on a farm! How is she suppose to survive on a farm, people who live with no fashion sense and how will she be able to find a place to dance.
To me this is about a teenage girl so angry at the world, for letting her current life go so wrong, so different then she wanted and expected... How dare her father cheat, leave her, and find happiness with someone else who is not her mother. How dare life be so cruel to her in her senior year of dance and how is she suppose to find a place to dance studio, that will be up to standards to get her into a good school? She is also expected to get up and do chores on the farm. Life is hell and then you find out it's where you are going to be living. She just wants to go home but there is no home there. That life, as she has known, is gone. The turmoil of her life and what is now expected of her. The anger she has to cope with and the changes she has to make within herself to find peace and happiness.

The conclusion is in Part 2

What happens when a true city girl is forced to go back to her mom's family farm in the south because her dad is an a$$hat? We find out in Tutu's and Cowboy Boots which is the story of Cadence Lewis and Barrick Carpenter. Talk about oil and water!

When Cadence and her mom first arrive in Delight, a true tiny Southern town Cadence doesn't know what to make of it. She does know she doesn't want to be there, thinks everyone are country bumpkins and resents the fact that she's had to uproot her life because of actions she had no control over. Cadence and her mom are living with her Gran, who I absolutely loved! She doesn't take lip from anyone, but especially Cadence.

It's expected that she work on the farm. Which of course is a foreign word to Cadence as she's never had to work a day in her life. Her entire life has centered around dance and furthering her career in dance. This is where things get interesting because Barrick Carpenter works on Gran's farm. The way these two interact with each other was funny. He gave her chores to do that he knew would drive her crazy and make her get dirtier than necessary. She gave him attitude galore! And Gran just stood back and made Cadence do these things because it's about time she think about someone other than herself and she needs to learn to be respectful.

According to Cadence the entire town of Delight isn't good enough for her, especially when she goes to the local place everyone hangs out at. This is where she meets Jade. A girl who seems to be unlike some of the other girls in town and who Cadence becomes friends with. Although it takes them some time to get to be close friends. What I especially loved about these two girls as friends is that they both learned from each other. Cadence learns that Delight isn't as bad as she thought it was, the dance school there that Cadence fought against attending, is somewhere that she can learn from and Jade learns to stand up for herself and realize she's beautiful inside and out....

"You're the first person she's actually herself around....It's like the girl I've known my entire life is finally around for the world to see."

To watch Cadence change was quite moving. She really started to see people for who they were and realized that life in Delight isn't as bad as she thought it was when they first get there. Along with this, is the growing attraction between Cadence and Barrick. She begins to rely on him especially when Cadence goes back to NYC for a visit. To say it was a less than fabulous trip is putting it mildly. Cadence learns a lot on that trip and it somewhat broke my heart. When she learns what's been going on while she's been away, her first reaction is to go "home" and to Barrick. I had a big smile on my face when this happened because it seems like Cadence is finally growing up.

There's so much more to this story than I can write about. But there are a lot of unanswered questions too. What happens between Cadence and Barrick? Will Jade and Cadence become dance partners and compete together? Will Cadence begI in to be the woman her Gran and Mom know she can be? I certainly don't know the answers but I hope to find them all in Book 2 of this series.

Personal Response:
This is one of my favorite series because I can relate to it very much. The title itself describes who I am. I have been in dance since I was three and I live on a farm which means I love cowboy boots. My favorite part of the book is when Candence goes out on her Gran's porch and dances. I found it funny how she has to clean the stalls and milk the cows and she is terrified to do both. I like how the author kept revealing a little more about the characters with each chapter.

Summary:
Candence is a teenage girl who is amazing at dance and lives in New York. When her parents divorce her mom forces her to move down South and live with her Gran on the farm. Candence's Gran will not put up with her sassy attitude and refusing to work. Candence learns this and finally decides to do some of what her Gran wants. Barrick is a teenage boy who works hard on the farm. Gran tells Barrick to teach Candence how to milk the cows, clean the stalls, and how to do a few more chores. When Candence back talks him and does the chores in a sassy way, Barrick decides to get even and tells her how to do the chores, but the hard way. So from the start Barrick and Candence don't get along and they don't until Barrick starts to like Candence. They start to pull pranks on eachother but it becomes a game. A relation is starting to bloom and continues to bloom when Candence decides to back off on her attitude. When her mom surprises her with a trip back to New York, Candence can't wait. To her surprise, though, she found that everyone in New York are stuck up rich people who are extremely selfish and don't care about others. The book ends on a cliff hanger when Candence flies home early and asks Barrick to come pick her up from the airport.

Characterization:
The main two characters in this book are Candence and Barrick. Candence goes from being a stuck up girl from New York and wants the best of the best all the time to an open, kind, hard working dancing farmer. She refuses to do her chores in the beginning, but at the end volunteers to do them. Barrick is a country boy who is a hard worker and can't stand people like Candence. Through out the book he begins to like Candence and is open to her personality of high end touches to everything. At first he gives her a hard time but after a while helps her out and tries to teacher how to do things the proper way.

Recommendation:
I recommend this book to teen girls between the ages of twelve to sixteen. If you are a dancer you would especially like this book. I give this book five out of five stars because it keeps you reading and you never want to put it down.\

This is the first book by Casey I have read.. but now I will read what ever this girl writes... even her shopping list haha

No seriously.. this girl can write, I just loved this book
TaCB was awesome... what else can I say

This book is perfect for YA and anyone who loves sweet romance books

I loved the two main leads... even if at times I wanted to give Cadence a shake or a slap now and again
Grrrr at times she was like a spoiled brat... But I blame the way her parents raised her and always gave her what she wanted in the past that makes her the way she is..

After her father leaves her mam... her and her mam both move back to her mam's small country hometown, where she will live in a farm house with her grandma...
Its a long way from New York, her best friend, her dad, her dance school and basically her old life

.... and she hates it

Her mam and grandma decide to make her do some work on the farm to show her what hard work is and to give her some responsibility's

HaHa she doesn't take to well to farm and country life
and she really dislikes the farmhand Barrick

Barrick is a country boy through and through, he is a true gentleman
He works hard and long hours on Cadence grandma's farm, to help support his family
all while trying to get himself through collage

Barrick and Cadence clash instantly... they are total opposites
But Barrick cant deny that he feels a really strong attraction to the gorgeous Cadence... he can see that she puts on a huge front of a confident and cocky girl... he can see past that to the hurt and sad girl behind the mask...

Barrick makes it his mission to show Cadence that country life isn't all that bad... and he really wants to help the lost little girl she has inside

I really loved this book and I devoured it in a few hours... its was lol funny, with plenty of drama and also some really sweet moments.....

BUT IT ENDS ON A CLIFF HANGER !!!!

Grrrrrrr I HATE Cliff Hangers

I usually wont start a book if I know it ends on a cliffy and I normally wait until the next book is closer to release...
But I don't regret reading this book at all....

Now I cant wait for book 2 to see how the story will play out form where it ended and also if Cadence will get her HEA

A Sweet, Romance Book

I love this authors writing style....
But I NEED BOOK 2 NOW !!! :)

So up in the air on what I think of Cadence. She starts out a snot. A selfish self absorbed snot. Thinking she is privileged and doesn’t have to do anything. That everyone is there for her purpose and to do what she wants. That nothing in small towns are as good as the city and that she is better than anyone in that town.

Yes her life has gone to heck and she is lost and angry but that is no excuse. I am sorry her dad cheated on her mom and that they must move but still not an excuse for her attitude. Love her grandma and how she puts her in her place. Doesn’t take anything from her. How her mom begins to become stronger and put her in her place as well.

Barrick is the young man who works at her gran’s farm. He is kind and sweet. He sees who the person really is. At first Cadence is rude to him as well. But Barrick works his way into her heart. They have some great pranks on each other. Barrick helps Cadence change. Helps her become a better person. So does his sister Jade. You will fall in love with Barrick and especially at the end. He falls for Cadence and is there no matter what. He is real and honest no matter what. truly a wonderful character.

Delight, NC is where Cadence moves and she learns so much here. She learns what it means to be real and not superficial. That everyone has a story and maybe there are reasons people are where they are and she shouldn’t judge before she tries to see the situation or just tries. She learns that she isn’t what the world revolves around. She learns the value of money and also learns what true friends are. Cadence sees that being thought of or having the person who loves you wants to be in your life and spend time with you and know you means more than giving them a credit card and monetary things-gifts. Cadence also learns what friendship and love is. Barrick helps with both as does her Gran. Jad helps her with friendship as well.

this is the sweet and at the end sad because of the reality of Cadence’s world when it comes to her dad well written engaging story of a young woman whose whole world changes due to one action of someone else. It is the story of how she changes and changes for the good. How she becomes beautiful both inside and out and finds friends and love. She finds out what it means to be real, honest and have people care. That is the journey this book gives us.

Tutus and Cowboy Boots by Casey Peeler is definitely a five star book! Cadence Lewis grew up in New York and is used to getting everything she wanted and everyone doing things her way. She’s a competitive dancer who wants nothing else but to be the best. She has the perfect life and everything planned out to go to the best dance school in the country, but a twist of events leads Cadence and her mom moving to a small North Carolina town to live with her grandma. Arriving at her Gran’s farm, Cadence meets Barrick. Barrick Carpenter is a down to earth, true southern gentleman. He helps Gran out on the farm everyday and genuinely loves to help her. Barrick and Cadence clash when she’s forced to help out on the farm, and she does so with a chip on her shoulder and the “I’m better than everyone else” mentality. Barrick struggles with trying to help Cadence. He wants to learn more about her and help her when she’s sad and angry, which seems to be a lot of the time. He wants to be there for her; he only wishes she would give him the chance. Cadence can’t seem to keep a positive, respectful attitude, except when she meets Jade. Jade becomes one of her closest friends and helps Cadence shape into a better, nicer person. Cadence also begins to get along better with Barrick, and a special night out keeps Cadence thinking “I’m not one to get random acts of kindness from people, but I have to say Barrick has blown my mind today.” As she becomes closer with both Jade and Barrick, will Cadence be able to start a new life for herself with an optimistic attitude? Will sparks fly between Cadence and Barrick as they work with each other every day? Find out in Tutus and Cowboy Boots!

I absolutely loved this book! The writing is excellent and reading from switching perspectives of Cadence and Barrick makes you fall in love with the characters. I can’t wait for Tutus and Cowboy Boots Part 2 coming out in April 2016!

Disclosure: I received a copy from the author/publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my review in any shape or form.

Jason Aldean’s Country Boy World fits Tutu’s and Cowboy boots to a T. If this book had a theme song I’m pretty sure this would be it.

Tutu’s and Cowboy Boots is a city girl meets the country kind of story. It was fast paced and gave you an insight as to how it is in the South. I loved reading about Cadence’s experiencing the South for the first time.

Cadence is a spoiled brat, ungrateful and disrespectful. It was definitely hard liking her. I had to take a break from her at times because she was just so whiny and conceited. But I also sympathized with her, I wasn’t her age when my parents broke up I was way younger but I definitely understood her feelings.

Barrick is the good ol’ Southern boy that I love to read about and fall in love. But I also felt like I didn’t really get to know him. Sometimes, his voice and Cadence’s voice it was difficult to distinguish between them. I had wished his voice was a bit stronger.

There were a couple things I would change, like I would love to see the actual pranks between Cadence and Barrick. There were a couple mentions of them but I still wanted to see more. I’d definitely want more Barrick to really get to know him better.

Aside from that, the story kept me interested and I loved reading about things I’ve always known about like Dairy Queen (former DQ employee right here!), homecoming, always cooking for 10,000 people when the family is only 5.

I am sad that the story did end in bit of cliffhanger so you will be seeing a review of the second part soon.

Tutu's & Cowboy Boots
Tutu's & Cowboy Boots Part One
Casey Peeler

Spoiled yet broken hearted New Yorker meets gorgeous, kind hearted cowboy. Get ready to be taken to one wild ride.

Cadence has to moved her senior year to small town in South Carolina, everything she had worked for to become a professional dancer was put on hold when she lands in Delight. But not everything is as bad as she imagined especially Barrick Carpenter the cowboy that will show her the road back to earth.

Barrick Carpenter knows he must show how the word respect means in Delight South Carolina to the spoiled ballerina that is Cadence but as he gets to know her he realizes there is something hidden under her spoiled facade. But how far is he willing to go?

You will be hating Cadence with her spoiled attitude but as we read her story we get to know her and the pain she harvest under her attitude. As for Barrick we will fall in love with this gorgeous kind hearted cowboy that only wants to protect Cadence.

I guarantee you will fall in love with this story and can't wait to continue to follow Cadence and Barrick in the second installment

ARC Review
Tutus & Cowboy Boots (Part 1)
By
Casey Peeler

As a reader, I am usually rather easy to please when I stick to my preferred genres. Casey Peeler does not disappoint with this story but I do miss a little something which is why it is a 4 star read rather than 5 star. Still, if you are a teenager/young adult (rather than a soon-to-be old lady like myself) you will most likely enjoy this book.

Cadence Lewis is your typical teenage girl who is dealing with feeling of betrayal and abandonment. When relocated to a destination she deems beneath her she comes across as a stuck-up, I-am-too-good-for you little Miss Diva. Cadence is written well enough but the character does not surprise.

Barrick is the good old well-mannered Southern country boy again with no surprise to his character. He made me smile though as he pulled pranks on Cadence, and I do believe, we would all like to bring him home.

If you are looking for a new twist to a seen before plot, then keep looking. But if you want a feel-good-make-you-smile book that leaves you happy, then this is for you.

BEWARE! This book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger.

I was given this book for an honest review
This is the first book I have read by Casey Peeler and as I got more into this story I fell in love with her style of writing. This book was an easy book to read but it still had depth it deals with a spoilt little rich girl coming to terms with her parents divorce and moving from New York to a small Southern Town with her mum.
Cadence does not want to move to her grandmothers farm after all she is a dancer she has danced since she could walk what can she do in the small town of Delight ( It doesn't even have a department store) but it does have a dance studio if she will just give it a chance ......
Barrick works for her grandmother on the farm and he is full of southern hospitality he knows how to treat a women if only Cadence would let him....

This was one the cutest, sweetest romance story I think have read in a long time. I just loved it! This couple is absolutely adorable!
Cadence is a spoiled little rich brat and going to live and work on a farm was definitely never in her life plan. Her attitude let's everyone around her know she doesn't want to be there.
Barrick is a good southern raised boy, I loved him right him off.  He showed her no mercy!

The story was very Green Acre-ish! Their flirty bickering and pranks when they had to work together just kept a smile on my face. She tried to keep up the snobby girl act but she came to realize friends and family who care are way more important the material possessions. My heart hurt for her as she learned this life lesson the hard way through family drama. Barrick was never far and gave her support she didn't know she needed
The book ends just when get to see how this knowledge will change her!! April cannot come fast enough. I need more of their sweet story!!

This was my first book from Casey Peeler and it won't be my last.

This book took you on a roller coaster of emotions and it felt that the characters developed along with the story line.

Cadence was taken out the environment that she had grown up with and wasn't ready for change. She tried to resist but when she goes back to her old life for a visit she realizes what matters most.

When she meets the Carpenters and starts to really get to know them, she realizes that small town life is not so bad. Jade becomes her best friend and keeps it real for her. Makes her realize that small country towns are not as backward as they seem.

Can't wait until the next one comes out.

April be here quickly please! Yes people there is a cliffhanger present. Although it is a mild one.

Casey Peeler is my go to author if I want a story I can escape into and know I'll get hooked from start to finish.

This is a country love story with a touch of city.

Cadence was one of those heroines I could definitely relate with. Her transformation was so touching and heartfelt.

Dear old Barrick... A heart of gold and a sexy southern twang.

A book with a lot of sassynes, banter and a promise to makes you escape from life for a while.

Amazing!!

Omg it did not just end like that Casey your killing me lol... This is by far one of my favorite books. Need a tissue box.

Cadence is a New York girl that is very spoiled has no respect for others, and has daddy issues. She ends up moving with her mom to Delight Carolina to the Country. Cadence's best friend has always been Lauren until she moved. She met Jade they have so much in common.

Barrick is a true southern gentleman that's works on a family that is own by Cadence's grandparents. Cadence and definitely caught Barrick's eye.

I can't wait for book two hope we don't have to wait every long ;) keep them coming

Cadence is a spoiled to the ways of the big city girl who is being torn away from everything she knows and loves and forced to move to a po-dunk town in the south. She is bitter about everything that is happening and could care less about anything except how this affects her.

Barrick is good, kind man who works for Cadence’s grandmother. He is kind, polite and will do whatever her grandmother needs because that is how he was raised.

I loved the character development of Cadence and Barrick, the bond that they were developing and then BOOM, the story ends.

This was a well written, YA book with good character development. I am looking forward to part 2.

What a wonderful New Year gift this book was! I was taken on a journey of emotions, which is always a sign of a great writer!! As in previous books I learnt a lot about the setting of the story. Being a Britt there were some things I had to look up, but again, what is a book for if you don't learn from it. Casey Peeler is a great writer and I love this new series, roll on Book 2!

This is my second book by this author and it won’t be my last. This book is not at all what I had expected to read. Not even a little bit. I was sucked on from the very first word until the last. There were ups and downs and laughing and crying. Now let me say this first, it ends on a major cliffhanger, but oh so worth the ride. Sweet Southern charm and sass from everyone.

The book opens and Cadence life is in upheaval because her father has left her mother. So she is having to move to the country with her mother and moving in with her grandmother. Not at all what she is used too. She is used to the city and her dance company there and now she has to start over. A new school her senior year and new dance studio as I had said. Life on the farm isn’t always what it seems. There she meets Barrick who works on her grandma's farm.

Then you have Barrick…*sighs* I loved him. He was an amazing person and he broke down her walls that she tossed up. Who could blame her? He loved his family and is close with his sister Jade. Cadence and she become friends. She learns that Jade dances as well. I love the nature of the relationship between Barrick and Cadence in the beginning. Their banter and pranks were fun, though he thinks she is trouble.

When the chance comes up to go back home to New York will she be up for it seeing her former friend and dancing buddy? How will her father be when she sees him and finds out now what is up with him and his new girlfriend. Now when she needs someone the most guess who is there for her? That’s right it is Barrick when he answers her frantic phone call. I was not a fan of her dad in the slightest. Her life is crumbling or so she thinks around her. She has to learn a valuable lesson and she does.

I liked reading about her growth. Her new friendships and living on a farm isn’t so bad. Going to run off now and read book two. I am giving this book a solid four-star rating. I wanted to give it a 3.5 only because of the hate I have for cliffhangers, but, that just makes me want to buy the next one so I can see what happens. That's where I am heading now.

Cadence Lewis is forced to move with her mom from New York City to Delight, North Carolina and give up her dancing and the life she knew. She is extremly mad at having to give up everything when her dad leaves her mom for a younger woman. She moves onto her Grandma's farm and is shocked at the things that she will be required to take care of.

Barrick works for Cadence's grandma, Ms. Mae, and is put off my Cadence's attitude and her lack of ever doing real work before. He tries to teach her the way of the farm but can tell that beneath her anger is a lot of hurt.

When Cadence has to go to school she is faced with "mean girls" yet meets Jade Carpenter and the two soon become fast friends. When Cadence learns Jade dances will she give the small town a chance?

When Cadence has a chance to return to New York will she jump on the chance and realize how much better things were then or will she realize the small town living isn't really too bad?

This was a great story about coming to terms with things that are out of our hands and how we deal with them determines our own level of happiness. Cadence hated that she had no choice to move onto her Grandma's farm but very gradually she was able to adapt and form friendships with Barrick and Jade but there were some expected things with them as well!

Barrick was initially so frustrated with Cadence and her attitude but gradually he learned more about what she left behind and why she left he was able to see a different side of her. It was interesting to see that Barrick did his school through the college and online courses in order for him to work for Ms.Mae at the farm.

I really liked how Jade was able to gain confidence through Cadence and she was able to get away from Maddie. She was able to "humble" Cadence as well through her judgement of the dance studio.

The ending made me really sad for Cadence with her dad. It was super sad the choices he made and how they impacted her.

Looking forward to the next book in the series!
