A 1999 Americas Commended List.

This is a book compiled of 3 different stories of a young man named Jose. Jose finds himself in various situations that show his triumph and cleverness. However, it seems like he has to prove himself a lot, like when he is the only one who knows how to handle a frozen screw in the auto repair shop. There is humor as well as lessons learned. Recommended for intermediate and middle grades.
