I used this book to prepare for my Cambridge CAE exam.
Most of the assignments are very useful to help you prepare for the exam though not every type will also be included on the exam. The answers for my edition are included and there are also chapters which explain the grammar. The thing that I disliked about this book is that a lot of the chapters start with a bunch of group discussions that you need to do. Also the cd with the audio files is not included so I can't do the listening assignments.
A nice extra with my edition is that it also includes a code that will give you access to 4 complete Cambridge CAE practise exams.
So do I recommend this when you are preparing for the CAE on your own? Yes, but be aware that there will be assignments that you can't do!
