I found this a very fascinating book, i've always been interesting in henna art. Growing up in the Middle East I have been exposed to a lot of henna, but I never really knew why people did it, or what it was made from. I found out that it was made from the henna plant, it is grounded up into a paste so that it can be applied onto the skin. It is nice to have removable body art. The book made a connection between women and henna, because it is normally used on and by women, that since henna only lasts for about 2 weeks it is related to the female ovulation time. Henna was originally used in religions such as Islam, and Hinduism, it was mostly used on women for their weddings or other special occasions. Henna symbols have meanings, and it is said that if the henna stain is dark on the skin then the henna meaning of the art is predicted to happen. Those are just a few things that I learned while reading this book.
