The Power of Positive Students is a great read. I found the book to be extremely helpful in my classroom. The book provided me with great information and tips on how to help my students become positive. It gave me some ideas on how I could help my students become more successful, more confident, and have a greater understanding of themselves as well as others around them. It also encouraged me to teach my students about what is edubirdie and how it can help them. The book also provided me with a lot of resources that I can use in my classroom or even just as a reference for myself when I need something new or different for my classroom.
The Power of Positive Students is an interesting read. Dr. Mitchell tells of his experiences as a school superintendent trying to foster positive thinking in students. The book provides anecdotal evidence for the importance of teaching young people to think with a positive mindset. It also gives some ways for individuals to implement the program in their own situations.
I really liked the autobiographical portions of this book that gave served as the background for the POPS (Power of Positive Students) program founded by Mitchell. He explains how he came up with the program by thinking back in his own life to those people and experiences that made him into the successful person he eventually became and tried to come up with some kind of formula that could translate to the students in the school system where he was serving as superintendent.
Unfortunately, the program itself is described in vague terms without a clear outline of the initiative. There are some okay suggestions, and then he just spends a lot of time trying to "sell" his approach. I would have preferred more specific examples of it in action and not just results that came from it without a clear delineation of how.
