Open Randomly: Fortune Cookies for the Soul

Rate this book
"Open Randomly: Fortune Cookies for the Soul" is a collection of sixty of the most popular blog posts from Ally Hamilton’s original personal growth, happiness and wellness blog on Yogis Anonymous. Part spiritual self-help, part advice column, the posts are grouped in categories, such as “The Relationship You’re Having with Yourself”, “Old Wounds/Current Problems”, and “Anger, Betrayal, and Taking Things Personally.” The posts are 2-3 pages long (perfect for before-bed reading, while you’re waiting at the doctor’s office, or when you need to take a quick break to center yourself), and the book is designed so that you can open to any page and find your “topic of the day". Of course, you can also read it from cover-to-cover, but if you open it randomly, it’s like your own personal fortune cookie for the day - possibly the exact message you need to hear. The book tackles big issues, but the posts are down-to-earth with a healthy does of humor. This is spirituality for those of us who are never moving to a cave, but are looking for tools to feel happy and at ease in this fast-paced world.

Ally Hamilton grew up in New York City and graduated from Columbia University with a B.A., having done an English major and Psychology minor. During her senior year, she wandered into a yoga class thinking it was going to be too easy for her, and that yoga was “stretching on the floor.” After having her ass handed to her, she was hooked. Not only was the physical challenge appealing, she discovered yoga was a way of being, not something you do for 90 minutes on a mat. Ally is a Santa Monica-based author and yoga teacher, who connects daily with yogis all around the world. She's the co-creator of Yogis Anonymous, a leading provider of online yoga classes, featured in The New York Times, Yoga Journal, Self Magazine, Shape Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.

Her first book, “Open Randomly: Fortune Cookies for the Soul” is available on Amazon. Her second book, "Yoga's Healing Power: Looking Inward for Change, Growth and Peace" was published by Llewellyn Worldwide in August 2016 and is available anywhere books are sold. She writes weekly personal essays and produces a podcast at AllyHamilton.YogisAnonymous.com
She’s the mama of two amazing teenagers and has a giant muppet of a dog named Chewy, who has no clue about spatial relations.
