Charles Caldwell Ryrie (born 1925) was a Christian writer and theologian. He graduated from Haverford College (B.A.), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M., Th.D.) and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland (Ph.D.). For many years he served as professor of systematic theology and dean of doctoral studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and as president and professor at Philadelphia College of Bible, now Philadelphia Biblical University. He was a premillennial dispensationalist, though irenic in his approach. He was also the editor of the popular Ryrie Study Bible.
Very helpful quick introduction into inerrancy. This is a short book, so it does not thoroughly cover the issue. But I appreciated the definitions, explanations of common arguments and counter arguments, and scriptures.
Quick, concise, and right on target. Makes his case based on the presuppositions of both sides. If you want to find errors you can find them. If you want to believe what God teaches about inerrancy in Scripture, you can deal with perceived inconsistencies. I chose to believe about the Bible what Christ clearly believed about it. It is inerrant.
The beginning is very brief discussion on the issue of inerrancy. The second half proposes some challenges to inerrancy. The defenses are missing though.
