The reason I read this book is because it is about the most widely massproduced allied medium tank ever. The M4 Sherman is one of the most well known allied medium tank of WWII and one of my most favourite tanks. The M4 sherman first produced in 1941 to replace the older but more armed M3 lee/grant and had incorperated the same chassie design as the M3 Lee/Grant also used by many other American tanks The tank was kept in service for a long time because the fact that it was so reliable with mechanical functions it was fast and manouverable and cheap to mass produce. The big 75mm gun mounted up top on the turret was gradually coming under powered due to new German tanks being planted on the front line. The PZKPFW Tiger 1 first introduced into German tank units operating in russia in 1942, the Tiger I was the most powerful tank anywhere in e world at that time, and would maintain its battlefeild supremacy for almost all the next three years of war. Heavily Armoured with thickness ranging from 1 to 4 inches carrying an 8.8cm kwk36L 56 cannonand two 7.92mm machine guns, it could out fight any other tank or anti tank gunavailible to the allied armies. For amphibious operations in both the Europeanand Pacific theatres it could be carried by the LCM. And that is why I like the book
