Wee Charles is a boy with a giant imagination and an original, curious mind. In the first of many adventures, he sets off to solve one of great questions of life: where do Strawberries come from? And why do they taste so good..? It is a quest that leads him to the Strawberry Fairy King, the source of so many answers - and not just about the humble fruit. But the Fairy King has never met a boy like Wee Charles and so together they set off on an even greater adventure.
A magical tale of wishes, nature and humanity (and the circus!), Wee Charles and the Strawberry Fairy King manages to impart a subtle ecological message that will stick with young and old, as it sweeps the reader up and around the globe on a weird and wonderful journey!
I love this book, as does my 9 year old son. From the texture of the cover to the instructions on how to grow strawberries yourself. We appreciate a book that does not require a "dark side". This treasure delivers it all: a cute story, a trip around the world, a brief lesson on economics and a nudge to the reader to start a garden of your own. This is an entertaining book for young and old, girls and boys, organic farmers and GMO consumers. I love the way the pictures and print are dispersed on the page. The idea that the child has questions that run so deep that it requires a quest is fun and enlightening. When do we stop asking the important questions and just care about the lowest price? I truly hope we see more from this forward-thinking author. Thank you for an entertaining and educational book that can be read in a single sitting to most children and deliver an important message. A must-have for preschool and elementary school classes and beyond!
I am always looking for fun books for my nieces, nephews and friend's children and this was recommended to me by a friend. I am happy to report I bought this for my nephew (the true critic) and he loved it. My sister said it has already become a staple in the bedtime story rotation.
